Once the port authority pulled out, the number of officers solely devoted to policing ports in the Vancouver area fell from 13 to nine — and today, the number is zero, said Neil Dubord, chief of police for Delta, B.C. For Dubord, responsible for policing a Vancouver-area municipality that is also home to Canada’s biggest container port, that’s created an alarming policing gap in an area where organized crime is known to flourish. https://www.thestar.com/vancouver/2019/09/11/revive-port-police-to-fight-organized-crime-on-the-waterfront-delta-chief-says.html
Radman + posted a topic in Foreign Policing NewsInteresting headline I spied earlier in which a City Council in Canada is seeking to replace the Mounties (Canada's national police service) with a local appointed municipal force. Some obvious parallels to be drawn over here in Britain where various local authority councils have complained of the level of policing services offered at a county level, a few councillors wishing to retain their own Constabularies. I thought this would spark an interesting discussion of the pros and cons.

Full story Seems like a very, very silly idea pursued in the name of political correctness.
