Once the port authority pulled out, the number of officers solely devoted to policing ports in the Vancouver area fell from 13 to nine — and today, the number is zero, said Neil Dubord, chief of police for Delta, B.C. For Dubord, responsible for policing a Vancouver-area municipality that is also home to Canada’s biggest container port, that’s created an alarming policing gap in an area where organized crime is known to flourish. https://www.thestar.com/vancouver/2019/09/11/revive-port-police-to-fight-organized-crime-on-the-waterfront-delta-chief-says.html
  2. Interesting headline I spied earlier in which a City Council in Canada is seeking to replace the Mounties (Canada's national police service) with a local appointed municipal force. Some obvious parallels to be drawn over here in Britain where various local authority councils have complained of the level of policing services offered at a county level, a few councillors wishing to retain their own Constabularies. I thought this would spark an interesting discussion of the pros and cons.
  3. Changes are coming to the way drunk drivers are policed and prosecuted in Alberta with the provincial government set to issue a directive to police that will largely decriminalize impaired driving, CBC News has learned. Full story Seems like a very, very silly idea pursued in the name of political correctness.

About us

Police Community was originally founded in 2014 by two serving Police Officers.

In 2016 it was incorporated as a limited company called RAW Digital Media Limited and then purchased 3 other forums; Police Specials, UK Police Online and Police UK to form the largest policing discussion forum network in the UK. In 2019 the decision was taken to merge all four forums into this main form of www.police.community
