Return to News Two brothers have been jailed for five years each for smuggling 22 stun guns disguised as torches into the UK following a National Crime Agency investigation. Donatas, aged 27, and Giedrius Armalys, aged 23, both Lithuanian nationals, were also given three and two months respectively to run concurrently for having indecent images of children on their mobile phones. They were sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court yesterday (1 October), after pleading guilty to the offences at an earlier hearing. Lee Rhodes, beat up a man for no reason, has been sentenced to 16 years in prison. Rhodes 24 without provocation approached the victim who was asleep and launched a vicious attack. The marked car crashed with a Mini Clubman on Ixworth Road in Norton, Suffolk, at about 13:10 BST. The driver of the Mini suffered a wrist injury and officers had minor bruising. A National Crime Agency investigation uncovered the criminal gang were trafficking the Class A drug methylamphetamine – making at least 17 trips between the UK, Turkey and Japan. Return to News 28 September 2018 A 24-year-old man has been sentenced to nine and a half years in prison after admitting to directing couriers to smuggle over £1 million of cocaine into the UK in their suitcases. NCA investigators identified Dutch national Wellington Rodriguez Pena, who was living in Wolverhampton, as the organiser behind two separate importation attempts to smuggle a total of 14kg of cocaine. Scotland Yard partially relaxed its ban on recruiting candidates with tattoos on Wednesday as it launched a drive to hire 2,000 more officers in the next year.
