    Return to News 24 December 2018 More than half a million pounds of suspected criminal money has been seized, following a joint operation involving the National Crime Agency and West Midlands Police. Acting on a tip-off from the NCA, officers from West Midlands Police intercepted a van on the M6 near Rugby on Tuesday 18 December. Inside they found a holdall containing more than £400,000 of cash (right). The cash was seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, and the driver of the van was arrested on suspicion of money laundering offences. He was later released under investigation. Two Albanian brothers organised travel for four others who acted as couriers by carrying large amounts of cash in their luggage. Over 80 trips were made by the group between November 2016 and January 2018 to countries including Belgium and Greece for onward transportation to Albania.     Body camera footage shows an assault on two officers, during which one suffered facial injuries after being repeatedly punched in the head. The footage, released by Lincolnshire Police, shows one officer being pushed into a hedge by a man before a second officer is dragged to the floor and attacked in North Hykeham.
