A Dutch man has been convicted of importing £134m worth of cocaine hidden on a yacht intercepted off the coast of Cornwall. Crew member Maarten Peter Pieterse, aged 61, was arrested following the operation led by the National Crime Agency. He pleaded guilty at a hearing last year. Three British men have been arrested as part of an international investigation into an organised crime group suspected of smuggling over 300 migrants into the UK. Two of the men were arrested by the National Crime Agency on European Arrest Warrants and now face extradition to France to stand trial. 36-year-old Hojjat Nickhoo, from Enfield, was held as he tried to leave the country via Heathrow airport on Saturday 15 June, while 31-year-old Ayoob Khaleghi was detained following a raid on Nickhoo’s address on 19 June. A flat in Dagenham has been recovered as part of a National Crime Agency civil recovery investigation into a man believed to be a drug dealer and fraudster. Mkpa Oju Uka, aged 50, from Essex, claimed the flat, worth around £310,000, had been bought with the profits of a second hand clothes business, but investigators alleged it was paid for using the proceeds of drug sales and mortgage fraud. Three Essex men including a pensioner and a serving RAF sergeant have been jailed for 11 years after admitting their involvement in a £1m drug dealing and money laundering conspiracy. In October 2018, officers from the National Crime Agency identified that Dennis Jacobs, 71 from Romford, RAF sergeant David Corentin, 32, from Rainham, Essex and Jason Warner, 48, from Canvey Island were involved in supplying cocaine, cannabis and amphetamines across London and Essex.
