The National Crime Agency have charged a truck driver with attempting to import class A drugs after cocaine likely to be worth more than £20 million was seized at Harwich. The NCA began an investigation after Border Force officers carried out a check on a Dutch-registered refrigerated HGV arriving into the port from Hook of Holland yesterday (Monday 11 November). They found that packages of cocaine were wrapped in blocks of frozen meat, and then loaded onto pallets in the back of the truck. More than 200 kilos was seized. A man has been jailed for nine years after admitting smuggling 60 guns into the country in his car, as part of a National Crime Agency investigation. Irish national Robert Keogh, 37, was stopped at 5am on Friday 2 August this year by Border Force officers at the Port of Dover en route from Calais. He had left the UK through Dover on 24 July and when questioned, told officers he was returning from Europe where he had “just been driving around”. An initial search of his car, a Volkswagen Passat, recovered a Turkish manufactured Zoraki blank firing handgun, with its barrel converted to fire live ammunition. A woman has admitted four child sexual abuse charges including live-streaming footage of herself sexually abusing a young girl over almost three years. Christine Callaghan, 33, was paid £2,285 by Dean Petley, 30, to carry out the abuse over Skype. Yesterday (Friday), Callaghan admitted four charges at Isleworth Crown Court. The National Crime Agency has begun an investigation after the discovery of eight illegal migrants on a yacht. The vessel, a 46 foot motor cruiser, was intercepted by the Border Force cutter Seeker and a coastguard helicopter yesterday evening (6 November) and escorted into Portsmouth. Eight Albanian nationals were found on board and their cases will now be dealt with in line with UK immigration rules by Immigration Enforcement.
