A civil servant who was arrested for online child sexual abuse offences twice went on to commit more offences while on bail. Press officer Richard Arcari, 37, was arrested and bailed in February 2017 by Metropolitan Police officers who received intelligence he had watched an online video of a man raping a boy and had offered to swap videos with other offenders. When he was arrested his iPad was seized and it contained hundreds of child abuse videos and images. Letting someone use your bank account to move money is money laundering is the message to students in the weeks before Christmas when it might seem an easy way to earn money. Earlier this year, 95 bank accounts – containing more than £3 million – were frozen by UK law enforcement coordinated by the National Economic Crime Centre. Access to the money was denied and investigations undertaken because it was suspected that some or all of the funds were linked to money laundering. A British woman who was paid £2,285 to stream footage of herself sexually abusing a young girl for almost three years has been sentenced to six years behind bars. Christine Callaghan, 33, used Skype to send fellow child sex offender Dean Petley, 30, the harrowing abuse footage. A hacker from Essex who was jailed for more than six years following a National Crime Agency investigation has been ordered to pay back over £270,000. 25-year-old computer science student, Zain Qaiser, was sentenced in April 2019 after admitting being part of a Russian-speaking cyber crime group that made massive profits from victims in more than 20 countries. Qaiser spent the proceeds of his criminality on stays in high-end hotels, prostitutes, gambling, drugs and luxury items including a £5,000 Rolex watch. Two members of an organised crime group have been jailed for conspiring to distribute 182.5kg of drugs – despite no drugs ever being found. The National Crime Agency case against Brian Capon, 34, and Michael Downes 32, was so strong the pair pleaded guilty to conspiring to supply 58.5 kg of cocaine, 69kg of cannabis and 55kg of cannabis resin.
