Kingpin criminals at the heart of a landmark law enforcement breakthrough into encrypted communications are in fear of the National Crime Agency and police, according to their messages. The NCA is not “f***ing about” one offender said, and UK police “have too much success” said another. A 24-year-old man who was arrested yesterday (2nd July) as part of an National Crime Agency led investigation under Operation Venetic has been charged. Alsi Vata, of Deptford, South East London, was charged with conspiring to supply firearms and ammunition, as well as class A and B drugs. Yesterday (2 July) the NCA announced that it had been working with international law enforcement since 2016 to target EncroChat – the supplier of encrypted devices used by criminals worldwide to coordinate illicit activity. A man who tried to smuggle cocaine worth over £8 million into the UK in a van delivering toy bricks has pleaded guilty. Today at Canterbury Crown Court, Marek Wisniewski, 45, from Bytom, Poland, admitted to attempting to import 80 kilos of Class A drugs – which had a potential street value of an estimated £8.1 million. The National Crime Agency launched an investigation into the Polish national after Border Force officers stopped him attempting to pass through Dover’s Eastern Docks on 29 May. An Albanian national been sentenced to 4 years in jail after admitting cocaine supply and money laundering yesterday at Inner London Crown Court. Amir Shkrela, 27, was the subject of an investigation by the Organised Crime Partnership (OCP) – the joint National Crime Agency and Metropolitan Police Service fight against serious organised crime. Shkrela, of Goldhawk Road, London, W12 was under surveillance by OCP officers on 23 May 2020 when he was seen getting into the passenger seat of a car on Benbow Road, with two bags. A Birmingham drug trafficker has been arrested in Amsterdam after nearly eight years on the run. Mark Liscott, (59) from Great Barr, was jailed in 2005 for the large-scale supply of cannabis resin in the Midlands, but fled after being released on licence in 2012. Liscott was apprehended on the morning of 24 June following an Amsterdam Police operation. Officers, acting on intelligence that drugs were being traded, raided a house in the centre of the city. Liscott attempted to evade capture by jumping across neighbouring balconies whilst carrying around 18,000 Euros in cash. However, he was successfully apprehended. National Crime Agency officers working as part of the Paramilitary Crime Task Force executed a search of a residential property in the West Belfast area earlier today (30 June) as part of an operation targeting the proceeds of crime. Following the search, during which mobile devices, documentation and a quantity of cash was seized for further investigation, a Property Freezing Order was served, restraining three properties all located in the West Belfast area. A man from the Isle of Wight has been charged as part of a National Crime Agency investigation into the seizure of cocaine worth £10 million at Newhaven port in East Sussex in November 2019. 43-year-old Jean-Pierre Labelle from Ashey Road in Ryde was initially arrested by NCA officers in March, but he was re-arrested on Saturday 27 June and charged for importing class A drugs the next day. Following an appearance at Newport Magistrates on Monday 29 June he was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Lewes Crown Court on 27 July.
