Two men are to be prosecuted over alleged fraud offences as part of the NCA investigation into the sale of the National Asset Management Agency’s Northern Ireland property loan book. NCA investigators submitted a comprehensive file to the Public Prosecution Service (PPS), who decided that there is sufficient evidence to prosecute the two men in connection with suspected criminal activity around the property deal known as Project Eagle. A 78-year-old man is to be charged with fraud offences, while a 49-year-old man is to be charged with fraud offences and concealing criminal property. A man who tried to smuggle cocaine worth almost a million pounds into the UK has been jailed for six years and nine months. Krzysztof Darius Jezak, 45, from Poland, appeared at Canterbury Crown Court on 31 July, having pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing on 15 June. The National Crime Agency launched an investigation into the Polish national after Border Force officers stopped him attempting to pass through Dover’s Docks on 27 April 2020. Jezak was driving a low loader vehicle and told officers that he was going to Bridgwater, Somerset, to collect a Fiat to export back to Poland. Three men have been charged in the UK and Netherlands, and over 50 kilos of class A drugs have been seized following a joint operation involving the National Crime Agency and Dutch law enforcement. Mark Youell, 63, Alfred Rumbold, 64, and Brian Wright, 72, were arrested on 29th July as part of an ongoing NCA investigation into a transport firm allegedly involved in drug trafficking. A lorry driver from Scotland has been arrested following the seizure of around 150 kilos of cannabis at the UK-France border. The 43-year-old from the Motherwell area was detained at the Channel Tunnel terminal in Coquelles, northern France, yesterday morning (30 July) as part of an ongoing National Crime Agency investigation into drug supply. Border Force officers recovered the cannabis, which would have had an estimated street value of around £1.5 million, from the vehicle he was driving. £2,000 cash was also seized. Five men have been arrested in connection with allegations of abuse relating to four girls in Rotherham. The offences are alleged to have taken place around 20 years ago, when the girls were aged between 11 and 16. National Crime Agency officers working as part of Operation Stovewood made the arrests over the course of three days this week starting on Tuesday. A teaching assistant bought an online catalogue of child sexual abuse using £365 of Amazon vouchers. Kevin Sheppard, 26, bought the abuse footage between June and September 2018 and sent the seller eight different Amazon vouchers totalling £365. Sheppard, who was employed as a teaching assistant at Huxlow Science College in Northamptonshire, specifically requested a video of a 15-year-old girl from the seller – who is the subject of another National Crime Agency (NCA) investigation. Two men have been jailed after being caught in a £700,000 drugs handover while under investigation by the joint NCA and Metropolitan Police Service Organised Crime Partnership (OCP). Michael Middleton, 41, and Ervis Hoxha, 31, were arrested by OCP officers on 12 March 2020 following the handover of 7kg of cocaine in Heston, West London. Earlier that evening Middleton had driven back to the UK via the Eurotunnel service from Calais to Folkstone. He then drove to Heston and parked up on Westbrook Road, before getting out the car with a rucksack filled with cocaine.
