Fifty nine properties worth an estimated £17 million have been recovered following National Crime Agency investigations into a prolific organised crime group carried out over almost a decade. In addition to a successful criminal investigation, the NCA conducted four linked civil recovery investigations over an eight-and-a-half year period into dozens of individuals who were suspected of financial links to drug dealers in East Birmingham. National Crime Agency officers have begun investigations after three separate seizures of cocaine were made in freight at Gatwick Airport. The first haul was discovered on Tuesday 11 August, as Border Force officers carried out checks on incoming freight from Jamaica. Around 22 kilos of the drug, with a potential street value of approximately £1.8 million, was found in a consignment of vegetables that had come off a flight from Kingston. The second seizure was made from the same flight a week later on 18 August, this time 30 kilos with an estimated street value of £2.4 million. A man has been remanded to custody after appearing in court charged in a National Crime Agency investigation. David Nicholas Wilson, 36, of Kirstead, King’s Lynn, Norfolk, appeared at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court accused of causing or inciting young boys to send him indecent images of themselves or of them and other children. Wilson faces a 94 count indictment which covers 49 victims whose ages range from four to 14. The alleged offences were committed between 1 May 2016 and 31 May 2018. NCA officers have made more arrests as part of an investigation into the abuse of four girls in Rotherham, alleged to have taken place around 20 years ago. The officers, working as part of Operation Stovewood, made the series of arrests in Rotherham this week. Two men, aged 35 and 40, were arrested, and a man aged 35 was interviewed under caution, for offences relating to the abuse of girls in Rotherham who would have been between aged between 13 and 15 at the time. All were questioned and released while investigations continue. This follows the arrest of 14 men in Rotherham and two in West Yorkshire during July and August as part of the same investigation.
