police was Twice they were given leads linking Jehovah's Witness Delroy Grant to the crimes. But they FAILED to arrest him and took DNA from the WRONG MAN. The missed oportunities came TEN YEARS ago. Since then the prowler went on to commit more rapes, assaults and burglaries. Grant first came to the Metropolitan Police's attention in 1999 when a house was burgled in Orpington, Kent, the News of the World has discovered. Details of the break-in matched the modus operandi of the Night Stalker - telephone cords were cut and the house plunged into darkness. An eagle-eyed member of the local neighbourhood watch team saw a man get out of a car and acting suspiciousl…

Daily Mirror This story just made me think a little about a discussion taking place in 'General Policing' about certain officers believing they're not allowed to force entry to a property without being MOE trained.. I wonder if a similar stance would be taken on that issue? In terms of this story, the police definetely should not become a glorified taxi company open for use by anyone who drinks too much - but we should all be thinking about welfare issues of anyone we come across.. sad indeed.

A 27yr old in Scotland has gone down for 12yrs. He was found gulty of attempted murder after attacking his exgirlfriend, digging out her eye using a coathanger and throwing it over a balcony 8 floors up. Link to BBC News article He claims that he can't remember the attack due to drink, drugs and "tangled emotions". Is it likely that a defence of emotional distress and mental incapacity through intoxication may have reduced his term? Alternatively (thinking about the D&D vs Sec5 thread), should this be taken into consideration when sentencing?

A cowardly mugger who punched a two-year-old girl in the face when her mother refused to give up her handbag was being hunted by police today. Maria Sharma, 28, was pushing her twins Paris and Sunny along a busy road in Slough, Berkshire, when the vile attack took place in broad daylight. A man, who Mrs Sharma described as 'looking possessed', tried to snatch her handbag, which was hanging from the toddlers' pushchair. When the single mother-of-four fought back, he crouched down and punched Paris full in the face. 'Animal': A mugger punched two-year-old Paris Sharma in the face while trying to steal her mother Maria's handbagHe then again attempted to run off with Mr…

ANTI-TERROR detectives were last night questioning five men arrested in a series of dawn raids over alleged links to Afghanistan training camps. One of the five is a Muslim leader who teaches at a number of mosques across the North-west of England. The preacher, who is in his 60s and is not being named by security sources, was arrested at 4am at his home in Bolton, Greater Manchester. The Daily Express understands that the raids followed a 15-month investigation into the recruitment of would-be terrorists for training in Afghanistan which may have led to attacks in Pakistan. About 40 members of the North-West Counter Terrorism Unit also swooped on three addresses …

Hundreds of indecent images of young girls were found on his computer when officers searched his former address in Abbey Village.
