http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/8534435.stm I'm sure this will spark off a healthy debate ! ! The guys in the video seem pretty well trained, some of the door staff on my patch don't know what the right hand is going from the left. Still not sure if im in support of it, something to me says this will aggravate situations more than calm them down.

A ONE-MAN crime wave single-handedly pushed a town's crime statistics up so much it became the burglary capital of Britain. </H2>Police say Michael Craig, 19, is largely responsible for putting Burnley, Lancs, at the top of the break-in league table. Earlier this month the Home Office revealed the borough had more burglaries per head of population than any other town or city in the country with 2,154 break-ins in a single year — a rate of 24.6 per 1,000 people. Craig was today starting a three year prison sentence, under the Government's "three strikes and out rule" for serial offenders, after he notched up his 101st conviction — but cops believe he's behind…

A Sikh police officer who was told to remove his turban during riot training has won his discrimination case against Greater Manchester Police. An employment tribunal ruled Gurmeal Singh, 31, will receive compensation after being subject to "indirect discrimination" and harassment. In a long-running dispute with the force, a sergeant said: "Can you take that thing off?" the tribunal heard. Judge Murray Creed said this was a "violation" of his "dignity". Pc Singh, who is based at Wythenshawe Police Station, had already told his superiors that he would not remove the turban on religious grounds, but was ordered to do the riot training course while off work with stress…

In 2009 the UK Border Agency (UKBA) specialist immigration crime teams, working with 300 seconded police officers, prosecuted more than 2,200 people for organised immigration crimes including human trafficking, fraud and drug smuggling. Border and Immigration Minister Phil Woolas, speaking this week at the European Serious Organised Crime conference, confirmed the UKBA as one of the country’s largest law enforcement bodies. Migrants who come to the UK enter into a deal to play by the rules. Overseas criminals who break that pact and damage local communities will find UKBA officers using immigration powers to tackle them. Phil Woolas said: "Smugglers, forgers, traff…

I saw a story related to this yesterday: http://www.westyorkshire.police.uk/section...47&iid=9375 I don't know enough in detail but I would have thought their Special's would have been ideal for this? As an ex-special, if it came to my local force I'd think about it.
