Latest news Detectives charge man with attempted murder following Solihull collision 19/11/2016 A man has been charged with attempted murder following a collision which left two pedestrians seriously hurt on Tuesday (15 November). Unemployed Junaid Haq, aged 18, from Flint Green Road, Acocks Green will appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court this morning (19 November). He was charged late on Friday night (18 November). Latest news Man charged with attempted murder after stabbing in Selly Oak 19/11/2016 A man has appeared before magistrates charged with attempted murder after a man sustained multiple stab wounds on Raddlebarn Road, Selly Oak on Monday 25 October. Student Salum Mohammed, aged 22, from Raddlebarn Road, Selly Oak has been remanded in custody. The victim, a 21-year-old man is recovering from his injuries. Latest news Officers given more time to hold man on terrorism offences 18/11/2016 A warrant of further detention has been granted for a 34-year-old man arrested in Birmingham under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000 by West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit (WMCTU). The man continues to be questioned at a police station in the West Midlands. The warrant of further detention enables police officers to keep the suspect in custody until Wednesday evening (23 November) at which time they will either charge, release or apply for another warrant of further detention. Latest news Pensioner killed in Soho collision named 18/11/2016 A great-grandmother who died after being struck by a lorry in Birmingham on Tuesday (15 November) has been named as Malkeet Kaur Surdhar. The 80-year-old was injured in the collision near S&B Supermarket, Soho Road, at around 10.45am. Traffic police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the accident and appealing for witnesses to come forward. Malkeet’s family have today described her as a "devoted wife, beloved mother, wonderful sister, caring grandmother, compassionate great grandmother and a wonderful human being". Latest news Man named in West Bromwich fatal crash 18/11/2016 A man who died in a West Bromwich collision yesterday (17 November) has been named as police continue to appeal for information. Local man Alan Maxfield was struck by a lorry on Jowetts Lane at around 8.40am. The 70-year-old was treated by the ambulance service but despite their best efforts died at the scene. The 45-year-old was walking along Freer Road in Aston at around 5.45am when a group of men armed with a knife attacked him. Colin Lee Cooke, a serving prisoner, is accused of harbouring younger brother Paul Cooke in the days after he stabbed 64-year-old Ronald Smith to death.
