Research Requests & Surveys
From time to time users will post a request to our members to complete a survey or questionnaire for them, usually related to some university or college work.
If you have a survey that you'd like users of Police Community to complete, then please create it within this forum area. All requests will need to be approved by the Moderation Team before being visible to the members. Requests for forum users to complete surveys that are posted elsewhere will be deleted without consultation. You must enter a date that the survey or research project is due to be completed on so that we can remove it from our website once complete, this is so that users aren't left posting data to a survey that's no longer needed.

Hello, I'm reading a crime story and I found this. Is this police slang? Can anyone tell me what it means? Thank you very much.

Hi everyone, I am a crime writer working in London and currently writing a detective novel. I would be really grateful if anyone can offer advice on what would happen in the following (rather random) situation: A severed head is found in a box, with no sign of the rest of the body. How do detectives interact with the forensics side of things in a situation like this? Can any one advise me on what the forensics/ pathology procedure would be? Like, I guess you cannot do an autopsy on a severed head? I've read that forensics is largely provided by private companies now? Cheers! Heather

My aim is to remain as accurate as possible to the way things really are, whilst keeping the environment "uncluttered" (trying too keep things focused on the story). My book features a protagonist, a female detective, who is employed with a "serious crime unit" (I think this might be fitting with a CID post but I am not entirely sure). In any case, she and her partner investigate in conjunction with local police departments, but they are able to track serious offenders and…

Hello, I'm just wondering if anyone can help me with a small obstacle I've come across. If you were to decide to quit the police right then (as in something happened and you never wanted to see the inside of a nick again in your life), how soon could you realistically get away with doing so? Thank you in advance.
