Hello, I'm reading a crime story and I found this. Is this police slang? Can anyone tell me what it means? Thank you very much.

Hi everyone, I am a crime writer working in London and currently writing a detective novel. I would be really grateful if anyone can offer advice on what would happen in the following (rather random) situation: A severed head is found in a box, with no sign of the rest of the body. How do detectives interact with the forensics side of things in a situation like this? Can any one advise me on what the forensics/ pathology procedure would be? Like, I guess you cannot do an autopsy on a severed head? I've read that forensics is largely provided by private companies now? Cheers! Heather

Hi everyone :) My name is Maya and I am writing a detective novel, set in the UK. I have researched UK police procedures, general topics relating to law enforcement etc, but I still have questions. My aim is to remain as accurate as possible to the way things really are, whilst keeping the environment "uncluttered" (trying too keep things focused on the story). Hello, I'm just wondering if anyone can help me with a small obstacle I've come across. If you were to decide to quit the police right then (as in something happened and you never wanted to see the inside of a nick again in your life), how soon could you realistically get away with doing so?
