Sat 3/3/12 1300 12 selby Specials are briefed for a day of action, aim of the day is to show the value of the specials and what we can bring to the area to assist our regular officers and the public at large. 2 officers are tasked with operating the ANPR camera in and unmarked car with RPG back up (they did not turn up). 2 officers are tasked with crewing the service desk appointments car. Evening all, Just wondering what the uniform is for north Yorkshire? I have spent a few days up there and saw two officers in what looked like dark polo shirts and fleece and then 2 other officers in White shirt and fleece?! Is norks trialing the polo shirt, or was it just a few rogue officers?! Cheers Hoggle

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-12287730 One of the control rooms which handles 999 calls at North Yorkshire Police could be closed as part of cost-cutting measures, it has been confirmed. The force said it was reviewing its control room provision, with a view to either retaining the existing sites at Newby Wiske and York or closing one. It is understood up to 100 jobs would be affected if one of the sites closed. The force said any decision would be based on "maximising efficiency" while continuing "a high-level of service". The move comes on top of plans already announced by North Yorkshire Police to cut 210 staff posts over the next four …

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-12267496 The number of burglaries committed by visiting criminals in North Yorkshire is being driven down by police action, says the force. The number of raids in Harrogate in the six months to October was up by 58% compared with the previous year. Police said thieves from South and West Yorkshire had been targeting specific houses. North Yorkshire police said they were monitoring main routes and sharing information with other forces. Assistant Chief Constable Tim Madgwick of North Yorkshire Police said: "We had a major problem in the spring and summer of last year where we saw those type of burglaries reachin…

Hi all I can confirm that NYP are not currently recruiting for York and Selby District. However if you download the preliminary application form from NYP website and send it in, you will be placed on file and contacted when recruiting opens. You will then be invited to a recruitment meeting (lasts around 2.5 hours) where they will discuss eligibility, the role, the application process, your and NYP expectations amongst other things. At the end of the meeting they will also give you the full application pack for you to return to them before a certain date.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-york-north-yorkshire-11989236 The chairman of the Police Federation in North Yorkshire has said it may take legal action over plans to retire officers forcibly. On Monday the county's police authority agreed to back regulation A19, which gives the chief constable the power to implement redundancies. The measure allows North Yorkshire Police to force officers with more than 30 years' service to retire. But federation spokesman Mark Botham said legal action was a possibility. It comes as the force seeks to cut 210 jobs over the next four years. North Yorkshire Police Federation has questioned the effect the move would have on the f…

As a rider who took part in the Black Rats Rideout (Catterick), yesterday (Sunday 19th Sept), I would just like to thanks North Yorkshire Police and the forces that were drafted in to help, for their work involved in enabling the ride to go smoothly and enjoyed by all, even though it rained for quite a bit of it. The waving and cheers from people at the side of the road was amazing and from the soldiers in the camps, most riders saying "it is the soldiers putting their lives at risk that deserves the waves and cheers". Thanks you all.
