A lot of changes have been happening to the NYP Specials,with an expanded role more opertunitys are now out there. First Pro Laser quallified Special, due to retrain on Unipar. First Standard Driver (Blue Light course) underway. Possible PSU 2 training now available. Possible Taser training and deployment. Personal CCTV cameras on Stab vests. Opertunity to specialise,currently looking into Wildlife officer role. Mutual aid operations with other areas. Operations planed and run by Specials. Standard training package for all areas. Noticed North Yorkshire have PCSO Recruitment open at the moment until 31 December 2012.

Got an email the other day saying they were short of taser quallified officers,so i have put my name forward for it. Watch this space but don't hold your breath!

Good luck to SO Kenny Sedman who starts his standard driving course on monday. Kenny is the first NYP special to be given the course, he will be with two regulars to show he has the same training as them. This is a trial and if it goes ok it will be rolled out to the rest of the force. This has been talked about ever since i joined 16 years ago and i can not belive it is actually happening,hope i get mine before i retire.

I have been waiting 6 weeks and a fews days now to hear about my Special Constable application, is this good news?, bad news?... North Yorkshire Police are very big on the whole 'Special Constable recruitment', will I hear something soon? I'm just getting anxious at this stage! Thanks!

NYP are opening up recruitment for the role of Student Officer on 6th August for internal applicants only. If you joined the Specials (or any other aspect of police support for that matter!) with a long-term ambition of applying for the full-time force, then get your application primed and sent off. I've heard it through the grapevine that you'll need a minimum of 2 years service before you are eligible, however, that was an unofficial source so double check beforehand. Good luck to all who are giving it a go.

No not Pussy cat's. Spent the afternoon marking catalitic converters mainly on 4x4's. We have had a spate of thefts over the last few weeks so am trying to do something about it. Had a good response with 18 done in 3 hours,at it again in the morning..

On the 7th of june 1992 during a routine traffic stop SC Glenn Goodman and PC Sandy Kelly were shot on the A64 near Tadcaster. Glenn's injury proved to be fatal, a memorial service will be held in Tadcaster this Thursday to remember him.

Cracking on with new gear and training at Selby, just had my mobile ANPR camera training. A new toy to take out untill we find out if our Laser is coming back.

Mcdos in Selby have stopped the essential workers privilage card, no more free coffee and cheep meals. Might be able to get in the car park now there are no Police vans parked up.
