Just registered and thought it best if I introduce myself. I am Nathan, from rural Martletwy (just outside Narbeth), but now in Haverford. I have (only just) filled the application for the specials in, so will be re-checking before sending it off tomorrow - I am currently unemployed so hoping that does not affect it. I do a lot of work for the local community, in terms of being with St John Ambulance, so have all my med-gas certification and AED, along with F.A.W - I have been doing that for the last 9 years but now fancy a change and feel that the specials would suite me better. In my spare time I am almost always on my motorbike, although on L's, so looking to do th…

Hi All, I thought it was about time I said hello on here, as there have not been any posts for a while. I have been a special for about 5 years now in the north of Powys. I skim over the forum most days, but this is my first post. How’s everyone doing?

After sending my application off recently, I left it 2 weeks to phone to see if they got it (sent my application off first class) and they said they have no record of it. I gave up for a while. To my surprise I recieved a letter this morning from recruitment saying that I have pass the papersift and they will get in touch with me about the next available dates for fitness test / pirt. After 2 previous attempts to join the police force, I have finally overcome step 1! At this moment in time words can't describe how I feel. It seems un-real. Anyway, anyone know how long usualy it takes to do the fitness / pirt? Thanks, Keiron

Hi Everyone, I keep hearing different pass mark percentage figures for the PIR test with Dyfed Powys Police; So I thought I would ask the experts  Is the pass percentage 50 %, 60 %, 63%, 70 % or 80 to 90 % ? Thanks, TJ

I'm 17 and a half years old this month which means I can finally apply as a special constable. I have received my application form and I'm trying to make myself look as good as I possibly can! I've already attended work experience with North Wales police so I will be using that to support my application. Is there anything else I should definitely put in the application form? Thanks guys!

Hi Guys! Great forum for the force. I have recently applied to become a special with Dyfed Powys but would like to know where they base you? I live in Brecon (Powys Division)and am hoping to be based at Brecon Police Station but I am aware that for the regs they base you where they want you, but is it the same for the Specials or can you Police your home town? Many thanks to anyone who can answer this

Hi, i have just recieved my application for Dyfed Powys Specials, the 2 issues i have are as follows. Currently i live in South Wales/ Merthyr Tydfil and was made redundant from my work a little while ago, im still seeking full time employment but i wondered if i will experience a problem with the distance i am from the force area. I was hoping i could put in to work from brecon but even still, am i going to experience external costs, due to where the borders are, im thinking i may be hit with fuel costs and i cant see them reembursed until i reach the brecon area. The other issue is BMI testing, is this something that is in the medical form or exam, im pretty fit and …
