This is my first post on this site. I had my interview for the Specials last Thursday and had an email the next day saying I'd been successful and the next stage will be PIR, Medical and Fitness tests on either 10th or 11th July. Firstly wondering if anyone else on here will be attending this? I've asked to be based in Pembrokeshire incase that makes any difference as Dyfed Powys is such a large area. Also regarding the PIR tests, can anyone recommend books/online sites where I can practice to ensure I'm fully prepared? Medical Test - Apparently they send out a form to fill in for the medical. Just wondering what sort of thing are they looking to find out? Will I need…

Hi, I received a phone call from Human Resources in HQ today inviting me to carry out my Fitness test. I have my initial divisional interview Sat 12th and they want to do the fitness test Fri 11th. Is it normal to do the Fitness test before the interview? I thought it would be logical to carry out the interview first and then do the fitness test, as I may not pass the interview process and then the physical would be a bit pointless for myself and HQ. Has this happened to anyone else?

Good evening all. I recently submitted an application online for the PCSO role that was advertised on the Dyfed Powys police website. I was just wondering if anyone knew how long the paper sift process takes and when I can expect a reply. In addition do they contact you whether you are successful or not? Many Thanks, JJ59

Hi all, Just seeking some general advice. I have passed the initial paper sift for SC recruitment in Dyfed Powys Police. In the event that I pass the interview stage and eventually start my training, can anyone advise me as to what the best time is to inform my employer that I am training and may be a future Special Constable? Is it best to inform your employer after training or prior, or another time? Has anyone had any difficulties informing their employers that they are training as an SC or have any of you decided to keep it completely private from your employer? I would be interested to hear how others have dealt with informing their employers and to see if ever…

Hey all... I have heard rumours of the new black paramilitary style uniform being brought into Dyfed-Powys... (see picture below), but I'm not sure whether it is for definite. I know Mr Arundale does like the good old fashioned shirt and tie, but the uniform was tested in part of the force last year or the year before, as seen on 'Brit Cops UK'. Anyone know anything?

I have my Special Inspectors interview tomorrow... nervous as hell as I know I'm up against two very experienced and good candidates. I'm assuming it's a panel of three like my Special Sergeant interview, but the process has changed. Since the 4th April 2013, Dyfed Powys Police have introduced the Policing Professional Framework (PPF) in all role profiles. This means that the previously used Integrated Competency Framework (ICF) has been replaced by the PPF. I've got notes on the PPF but it doesn't explain that much. Best of luck to the other candidates!

Hello A quick query, to become a Special in Dyfed Powys (or other Welsh forces) is it required to have Welsh language skills? If so, how proficient should one be?

My brother died in motorbike accident 10 years ago, but when he was younger used to get in trouble for very silly minor things. They don't ask for brothers in law on the list of relatives on the application form, but when I was vetted for the specials in another force area I had a home visit and they brought up about him. I still passed vetting for the specials but should I declare this anywhere else on the regs application for dyfed-powys ? Many thanks
