I know City of London Police have AFO's who do ARV duties and what not but I was wondering if they have a specialist firearms officer capability, or do they get the Metropolitan Police to cover that area of firearms.

Hi all I'm debating whether to transfer to COLP but given the small area I'm not sure whether it will be busy enough. Can anyone advise me on what's it's like to work there? Are there long periods where nothing happens and your left twiddling your thumbs? Is it busy enough during the night to be proactive? Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Morning all Many of us may be aware of the degree of pomp and circumstance surrounding the Met's passing out for regulars - but what happens with the City of London officers? I'm curious as to what the day entails - as well as whether family can attend, etc. Thanks

City Of London Recruitment

A friend of mine is interested in joining the City police but it looks like they're not recruiting currently. It doesn't say it explicitly on their website, in fact from the look of it you'd think they are recruiting PC's right now, but it's missing an "apply now!!!" button/similar. Anyone know how often they recruit? Or if they're going to start any time soon?

Medical Colour Vision

Hi all, I'm a serving Met MSC, transferring to City Police. Only thing holding me back is my colour vision test, I've done the basic colour test (pictures of dots and you've got to figure out what number / letter is hidden) which I've failed. There is a second test, the Farnsworth D-15 test, but this test is not very common and the only place I could find that does this test does it for £44. Question is, do I invest the £44 and go for the test - I assume I won't get this back as an expense? Can anyone advise please.

Recruitment Information

Hi all, I have been a serving SC for just over 2 years and I am now looking at the possibility of a transfer to CoLP. My day job is working in the city and is usually an 8-5 job so it leaves me with the usual Thu/Fri evenings which I understand are the busiest shifts for the City's Specials. I am keen to hear a bit about what other Specials who work for City Police think, and also how they arrange travel back home in the early hours after the trains have stopped working. Also, if anyone could provide me with a recruitment telephone number and e-mail address that would be great! Thanks for your help.
