Hello all, I have been thinking and have come up with something I was hoping a city pol officer (or anyone that knows) can answer for me. Can a city of London police officer arrest off the city of london patch? The main reason behind the uncertainty is because forces like met, Essex, Kent, Btp, etc are sworn into the queen meaning they have power on the queens streets whereas the city pol are sworn in to the corporation of London, which only covers the city. I could be completely wrong but that's what I have always been told. Anyone shed some light on it? Thanks

Hi City Police Folks, As I'm sure some of you might be aware of the impending shake up over the border in the Met. The upshot of this will no doubt be people looking for alternatives outside the borders of the Met. As I'm sure you'll get asked about transfers, and I'm going to pose the same question in other bordering force areas. What are the requirements for transfer for both IPS and non IPS officers? Many of the higher skilled officers will no doubt look to bring some of their qualifications with them. Would Level 3 driving, Level 2 public order or Search be something which could be carried over? Thanks, WithoutSkill

Dear neighbours (being an MPS officer that is)! You may have noticed on the General Discussion page a posting for the ps.com supported 'Special Constabulary Wiki'. I am wondering, should any of you have a spare moment, whether you can contribute by populating the page for your force? The page can be found here: http://specialconstabulary.wikispot.org/City_of_London Many thanks and look forward to reading about the specials in the City! Matt.

I just heard that CoLP Commissioner Adrian Leppard and his wife were injured in a paragliding accident in France. I was lucky enough to have served with Adrian as his sergeant many years ago. If per chance you are reading this I wish both your wife and yourself a speedy recovery.

Evening Ladies and Gents, does anyone know when CoLP will be taking on Specials this year? The website says early 2012 but I was wondering if anyone knew of any specific times. Also, as I used to be a Special in the Met would I have to undergo CoLP vetting, and applications? Any sort of help and advice would very much be appreciated. Rob

A brand new BBC3 documentary series is looking for serving and retired police officers to tell us about the funniest and strangest things that have happened to them during their career. We’d like to hear about: • The daftest or most incompetent criminals you’ve ever encountered. • The funniest thing that ever happened to you during your time on the force. If you are interested in taking part, please contact us so that we can tell you a bit more about the show. We’d also love to hear your stories. Our programme will provide an insight into best practices, celebrate the achievements of the police and convey a strong central message: Crime doesn’t pay and …

My mother is disabled and lives in a rented farmhouse. The landlord uses the land but doesn't reside on any part of the farm. Her electric bills for 4 years have averaged £700 a quarter and the company have been very unhelpful so she and my dad swapped providers. We recently found that he has been tapped all the way through his lambing and shearing and cattle sheds straight into her supply. The police and the Scottish power attended and it was verified. However the police have said it isn't a crime. Can you shed any light on this as surely stealing (abstracting electricity) is criminal. Thank you

Around a month ago I rented an apartment with four friends. As I had some money , I had payed for the majority as they were getting paid at the end of the week and then they were supposed to give me money back (it was Tuesday). One friend backed out, the other has paid me 200 pounds - I paid a deposit of 1080, 270 Management fee (for the guy, that found me an apartment - not agency) and 540 rent in advance. Another friend - X came afteroon (they day that me and my friend moved in) left some of his stuff and came back drunk around 3 am. I didn't let him into the room t, and went back to sleep. The next day he was gone, he took the key. From now on , on a regular basis he w…

Hi guys, from what I can gather the CoL forum here doesn't seem that busy... I have my assessment centre on Saturday 5/3 at Bishopsgate Station. Was just wondering if anyone else here was attending or if there are any other CoL SC's on here. I am quite excited but also apprehensive. Scott.
