Detectives from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit appeared before London’s Westminster Magistrates Court via video link on Saturday (27 August) to submit their request for a warrant of further detention. Darren Nesbitt (pictured), from Arden Street in Dorridge, had invited the woman to stay at the house he shared with his partner in Solihull on 22 August last year as a leak had left her with no running water. Latest news Teenager arrested on suspicion of Birmingham murder 26/08/2016 A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was stabbed to death in Birmingham earlier this week. Police were called to Summer Lane, Newtown, at just before 8pm on Tuesday 23 August and the 26-year-old victim died in hospital yesterday (Thursday). A post mortem revealed the man, who has not yet been formally identified, died as a result of a stab wound. Two of the men, aged 32 and 37, were arrested in the Stoke area of Staffordshire; two men, aged 18 and 24, were arrested from their home addresses in Birmingham; and one other man, aged 28, was arrested at a further location in Birmingham. Latest news Man sentenced for breaching terrorism order 26/08/2016 A 24-year-old man has today admitted breaching his licence conditions after failing to tell police of onward travel on three separate occasions. Ishaaq Hussain, from Chetwynd Road, Washwood Heath, was released from prison on an order made under Part 4 of the Anti-terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2011 after he pleaded guilty to terrorism offences in 2012. He was arrested on 4 April at Gatwick Airport and today (Friday 26 August) he pleaded guilty to the breach and has been sentenced at the Old Bailey to 20 months in prison. Latest news Passenger seriously injured after being pushed over on bus 26/08/2016 Police have cordoned off an area of Yew Tree Lane after a passenger was pushed over on a bus earlier today (26 August). The 67-year-old man suffered a serious head injury and is being treated in hospital. It is being treated as an assault and enquiries are on-going at the scene. No arrests have been made. Latest news Murder investigation launched following Summer Lane stabbing 25/08/2016 Detectives have launched a murder investigation after a man died following a stabbing in Birmingham earlier this week. Officers were called to Summer Lane in Newtown at around 7.55pm on Tuesday 23 August to reports of the stabbing. A 26-year-old man was found with life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, but his condition deteriorated and he died today (Thursday 25 August). Carl Brookes was arrested as he came out of Five Ways railway station on the morning of Thursday 14 April with the three-year-old. Latest news Investigation launched after body found in Handsworth 23/08/2016 An area of Wellington Road, Handsworth has been cordoned off after the body of a man was found earlier today (23 August). Officers were called by the ambulance service to an address at around 7.30am following reports that a 34-year-old man had been found collapsed. Latest news Fatal M6 crash victim named 23/08/2016 A Telford man who died in a collision on the M6 on Sunday (21 August) has been named as Anthony Marston. The married 54-year-old father of two was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash between junctions 10 and 10A on the northbound carriageway at around 3pm. Mr Marston was driving a white Mercedes E300 estate and had been towing a trailer loaded with a Peugeot Partner van along the M6 northbound.
