Hey guys, Just got a few questions that I was hoping some Special Constables could answer for me. Just a bit of info to help you answer these, Im 17 at the moment (18 in January), On a 2 year college course (Just finished 1st year), live in Cirencester, and going to apply as soon as i turn 18 (Cant Wait!) 1) How hard are the English and Math tests? (gots C's in GSCE) 2) How long will it be untill i start patrolling? (from when I apply) 3) Will still being in College prevent me from joining? (will be finished by July 2013) 4) Truthfully...Being 18 how likely is it that I'll be able to join and get through? Thanks Guys Appreciate It!

Hi Guys, As I'm (very sadly) no longer with Glospol Specials, it only seems right that I should hand over the mini-mod duties I do on their behalf in this section. Having only had a small taste so far of the realities of doiing the job full time, it's fair to say I won't have a lot of time, and it also makes sense that someone more up to speed with Glos Specials takes it on. I'll carry on in the interim, but if anyone wants to take it up (and I at least know of you) I will provide one of your endorsements needed for you to take over. Cheers, James

FAO Gloucestershire Officers Only! Hello everyone, a friend of mine has given me a few Points to Prove booklets going free if anyone would like one. They have lots of information including notes on some offences, for example robbery where it mentions very little force is "actually required and a push or nudge to put the victim off balance has been held to be sufficient." Another section relates to Police Actions - such as submitting a crime report, PND. The booklet doesn't cover every offence as it is quite small (smaller than the PNBs!) but what it does have seems to be quite good. hey guys, My name is Nino and I am currently in the process of applying to join the specials, this is my second attempt as I failed due to my interview last time. I would love to get some advice from anyone, i have my Assessment Centre on the 28th of January and am quite nervous about it. I would like to Police from Gloucester City Centre if I get in, Would be great hearing from anyone already a Special or Applying.

Afternoon, I had my assessment the end of February at Gloucestershire HQ and finally today i received a letter saying i passed the assessment etc. Only had a quick read through of it as i was on lunch so i am yet to go through all my scoring etc but apart from that i am a very happy lad! Anyone else recieved theirs yet? Chris

Currently Specials applicants are required to take their apptitude tests and face to face interview stages of the recruitment process on separate dates. The resourcing team are making changes to bring the process into the national standard that most (if not all) other Constabulary's currently use. So As of September 2011 all new Special Constabulary applicants will be invited to attend a Assesement Centre at HQ in place of the current system. DISCLAIMER - To my knowledge this information is accurate at the time of posting based on notice given by Gloucestershire Constabulary's Resourcing Team as of 11/07/11.

Special Constabulary Intake Dates Currently there are 3 known intake dates for those who complete the application process: September 2011 (Possibly now full) November 2011 March 2012 Only 18 student officers can be accommodated on each intake - so those cleared first will be put on the current intake until full. Disclaimer - This information to my knowledge is correct as of 07/08/11 from information gained from the Resourcing Department at Gloucestershire Constabulary, it is advised you contact the Resourcing Department in regard to any questions regarding intakes.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone from the Gloucestershire Constabulary knows how many people have applied to be a special for the next intake? I have received an e-mail from the resourcing unit saying that the AC will take place at the end of january, but only 18 applicants will be able to start training after passing the AC. Which means if there are hundreds of applicants then surely there is a potential waiting time of over a year.. was wondering if anyone could help? Many thanks, Reajay

Hi Everyone, I have recently applied to become a special constable, i had my assessment tests (i believe there called PTI's) and passed them at the beginning of the week. I have my interview on Tuesday afternoon and am trying to establish what i should prepare for? as joining is so important to me, i am getting a bit nervous about the interview stage and want to ensure i am fully prepared on what to expect.
