GodAtum 0
I haven't driven since I passed my test in 2007. I am trying to try to start again but I seem to prefer taking public transport. For example even though it takes longer to go and do the weekly shopping on the bus I just feel more tired driving! Am I wierd lol? Also I get into more trouble driving, people tailgating and cutting me up. The bus seems do much easer even though there is a small risk if stabbing/mugging. Anyone else feel like thus when they started driving?
SierraLimaSierra 313
No, how old are you? I passed at 25, bought a car and drove round Ireland within two weeks of passing my test. Never looked back.
Scot 703
I was scared when I first past, it's weird without someone in the passenger seat, but you just need to bite the bullet and get used to it. I couldn't imagine myself without driving. I don't know how I did it! Edited November 19, 2012 by David Unnecessary naughty word removed.
GodAtum 0
I'm 25. It just seems to take more effort driving then taking public transport. Surely it's meant to be the other way around?

Administrative Account 7
You live in London though? To be fair to you, I have been driving cars, HGV's and riding motorcycles for as long as you have been alive and I won't drive in London either so I understand how you feel! I drove a car into London once, there were signposts to my destination for a while and then they disappeared and I got lost for about 4 hours, so I gave up up and drove home to civilisation. Never drove in London, but in the centre of glasgow it's all a one way system. I can see my destination but can't get to it without going for a excursion in the opposite direction! Adamski1546081335 + 791
Driving can and will tire you if you're inexperienced; it's a bit of sensory overload. Start small, get bigger, and if in duobt, get someone that you trust in the passenger seat with an extra pair of eyes.
GodAtum 0
I drive in central London, never driven anywhere else. I swear driving in more dangerous then taking the bus! And I often have a power nap on the bus or train plus I can read my book too. Edited November 19, 2012 by GodAtum
SierraLimaSierra 313
I'd say that's a really personal thing Atum. To me getting public transport is an effort whereas just popping in the car and travelling door to door with no public transport related annoyances is a much better option. Having said that, for long distances sometimes I prefer to take the train, pop the iPod in and read a book.
GodAtum 0
I wonder what is statistically more dangerous: driving or taking the bus?

fruitandveg + 26
I'd love to be able to take public transport more but it's just non-existent where I live. When I used to live in Southampton mind I used to nip into town on the bus, much quicker and cheaper than getting the car out. I've also driven round London a few times and driving round is fine, it's finding somewhere to park that's bad!
Dave SYP + 2,961
I don't envy you GodAtum. A senior colleague and I drove a SYorkieplod vehicle in and out of Central London a few times when we were attending meetings at the HO and NSY some years ago..........NIGHTMARE!!! Come and have a go at driving up here sometime.
XRegulator1546081364 188
If anyone on here thinks driving around London is a nightmare (I do respect your opinion Dave!), then try driving around downtown Mumbai (Bombay). Makes Central London seem like driving around Hastings on a Sunday afternoon!
