lukewi 9
They stopped giving the BCG to secondary school children the year i was meant to have mine and was wondering if it would be possible to get one as there is a hightened risk of coming across TB as a Special? has anyone else managed to get a BCG for whatever reason recently? Thanks
One 11
This might be useful to you. http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/BCG/Pages/Introduction.aspx You can get most vaccinations for free anyway from your local GP surgery.
Charlie 606
Apparently, the BCG vaccine is not much use if it is administered after the late teens. I should think you're mostly at risk from tuberculosis from 3rd world countries. But I'm not a doctor so you should speak to someone who is. Merlin820 32
I've no idea why they stop vaccinating against diseases such as TB. It's a terrible disease and although admittedly fairly rare to catch, if it is caught it can cause permanent damage.
CSC1 + 131
I seem to remember reading just the other day TB cases were up 8% in London. I'll see if I can find a link. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-17485728

LeanneSC 84
I'm 26 and still haven't had my bcg. I was off school ill they day they had it. I'm guessing I need to have it done before I go any further with my recruitment process for specials?!
SierraLimaSierra 313
I'm in my early 30s and like the other posters here, they stopped administering the BCG to school kids for a few years and I missed out. It's not stopped me getting in as a Special but that may well be a force specific thing. Contact your HR department and see what they say.
