Swannatron 0
so i have had my samsung r700 laptop for about 3 years. recently i had to fiddle about with the plugged in charger in order for it to charge similar to finding the right position for reception with the old tv aerials. more recently it wouldnt charge at all. bought a new charger lead and power pack.... no change. bought a new battery... no change. Im beginning to think it may be the power jack in the laptop. my question is whether there may be another reason my laptop wont charge and if it is the power jack how do i go about replacing it myself and if not possible without specialist tools and knowledge how much do you think it will cost to get it repaired. cheers
medic1 0
Personally i would cut my losses and buy a new one. changing the charging port will require soldering etc etc you may be able to offset the cost of a new laptop by selling your r700 and advertising it as having charging issues. callsign-kid 1,617
Most laptop places are pretty reasonable. One near me replaced a keyboard which had failed parts and labour were £30. To be honest it might be a fairly simple soldering job but speaking as someone with fairly good soldering skills PCBs are a nightmare.
