Set up a PC in daughter's room and trying to connect to wireless network, the message comes back saying can't validate licence but that it's connected? Anyway, I can't remember the WPA key or the network key, any ideas how I can get round it?

Thanks.

Standard code should be on the back of the MODEM-router. If it isn't the standard pass code then you can reset the router and it will default to it.

You can be connected awaiting for the connexion rights. You're "there", but just without being able to do anything.

Try accessing your router (which OS are you using?) and hopefully will be able to see (or change) the password there.

If you are still on the default password, it should be written on the router somewhere.

Edit: Dang, ninja'd

Think reset might be easier. Does that wipe all the info and allow me to start again? My mac and iphone connect automatically so I assume I'll have to re-enter connection?

Only if you changed the default password.

Did you change the default password?

I know the password for the wireless network, have tried it and it's incorrect. When I click connect on our network it asks for 'Network Key' - have no idea what it is. Nothing on the bottom of the router either.

How do I login to my router?

Virgin.

Ahh Ok. With BT you just type in an IP addy and all your Hub/Router technical info etc is there, I wonder if Virgin do something similar?

Type 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 and you will have a little box asking you to enter username and password.

Try username: admin

password: password

Where do I enter that? unsure.gif

In your URL browser, as if you were typing a website address

Tried it, says address not valid.

I set up a new wireless connection, it gave me the settings in notepad format including the network key, but still nothing.

It will take someone who knows what they're doing about two minutes but I'm giving in for the evening. Thanks for all your help. thumbsup.gif
