Having sprayed some week killer on the garden a couple of weeks ago I now have lots of brown/black patches which are dead weeds. What's the next step??

Wait for new weeds to grow back in their place?

Not really the ideal option.

Have read that scarifying might be next but has anyone done that & can offer advice? Like do I need to go to Barnie & Queenie and <shudder> buy one??

You can do a reasonable job of scarifying with a garden rake and a bit of arm power. Leave a while to check for regrowth before reseeding. Tried this on my rear lawn, but the soil still contained the original heathland from when the house was build and now it looks more like a SSSI.

You've killed the week! Well done, no longer the need to wait for the week end. Woohoo!:)

Weed killer has got to be the biggest waste of money ever. There is only one economical way to get rid of weeds - dig them out.

Then wait for the next lot to grow!
