before i physically chuck this xbox out of the window...

right, i bought some xbox points about a month ago... asked for my card details.

bang type, there we are, it's all done and dusted.

now my xbox live subs were up, they have taken payment as i am still showing "gold member"

but when i try to sign in i am told my account has been suspended.

it tells me to go to billing,microsoft.com and i get the message 'You do not have permission to view this directory or page.'

and when i go through xbox.com i get an error message. they are not accepting my card details stored *****1234 for example is my card on file and i click it, and it does nothing.

any ideas. or do i go smashing bill gates front door down? :p

It's sounds like they had a problem with your card, and thus suspended the account.

Have you checked your card statement to see if the money has been taken?

Also try this link to get to the billing - you will need to login with your live account:

yeah they did charge me as i got a text saying that a foreign account was trying to bill me (MS being american)

i'll try that link.....

my card that im using seems to say "Credit card status: Good"

so no reason at all to be suspended. i hate MS

It could be a few things:

1) (I know I shouldn't be asking this, but) Have you done anything "out of the ordinary" with your xbox? You know what I mean, includes playing certain games before being officially released, or modifying the xbox to play such games?

2) Maybe the account has been suspended for other reasons, and even the payment went through, it may have bounced back. check the bank statement

3)Try giving them a ring: 020 7365 9792 or 0800 5871102

From your post I'm not quite sure what you actually bought: points or a subscription? A monthly subscription? Tri-monthly? Yearly?

Also, I would suggest NOT to give microsoft ANY of your card data, not even for points, as it is a pain in the neck cancelling from them. Instead, I buy stuff from http://gamehubs.com/ (it LOOKS very dodgy, but you can pay via paypal), for both points and subscriptions, and they send you an email with the code. Never had any problem with them.

A bit riskier is to buy from play.com (marketplace area). Sometimes the deals are too good to be true, in which that case they most likely won't.

i bought points

- last year i updated my annual with my old card which expired

- i then updated my card when bought some points

- the new card was on the system but refused to pay (well, clear) for my 2011 subs

i'll check i was not charged then might just buy a card from HMV

I used to work for Microsoft, but not in Xbox Live, so hopefully I can shed some light. Wcarnby seems to be pretty much right.

-You should make sure you bought Xbox Live points for a UK account, not USA. Easiest way to check is that the amount would be in Pounds, not Dollars, and so it should go to Microsoft UK Ltd rather than anything foreign/American. You can't switch the location of an Xbox Live account. You don't want to end up paying for Live for one account, then having to ditch it.

-If you're suspended, it will be for a reason. Either you did something wrong (so it's permanent), or there was a problem with your payment method (so it's temporary). If you've had your xbox chipped or you cheat online or something, then of corse you deserve to be suspended. Also consider that you might have a banned word in your name (like "gay"). If not, chances are it's just a problem with your card details. Speak to them and they'll be able to sort it for you.

You can call or email them, and include as much detail as possible (email address, gamertag, dates, last 4 digits of card number).
