Bloody Sky remote!

My Sky remote now no longer works the tv functions... It literally went from working one minute to not working the next. It's a Sky + HD remote, and the tv is a Sharp LC37x20e. I've tried the following codes; 0093, 121, 064, 065 and im fairly certain it was one of those I used last time, however none worked.

Now after inputting the code the red light on the remote isn't blinking twice, no idea why.

Any advice? Using two remotes is a pain in the backside!

Are you sure you haven't pressed anything on the other remote which would make the TV go back to taking commands from the non-sky controller?

Try turning the Sky Box off from the main plug and wait a few minutes then plug it back in.

You could try resetting the remote. Take the batteries out for half an hour, that should do it.

The codes you have are the right ones for a Sharp TV, so it has to be a remote fault. Needless to say, unplugging the Sky box will have absolutely no effect what-so-ever.

Sorry to hijack your thread Ermintrude, but I'm having problems with my Sky box at the mo too...

My Sky box suddenly decided to stop showing some channels on Saturday night (and so far, they've not returned). BBC2, ITV, C4, C5, Sky 3 have all disappeared - I now get a 'No signal' message instead. Strangely, I can get BBC Wales on channel 991 and Channel 4+1 still works too, but it's bloomin' annoying. I've tried turning it off & on again, resetting the software, and resetting the LNB settings, but to no avail - any ideas anyone?

(And again, apologies for the thread hijack!)

This may not be applicable to either of you, but I had sky box problems a while back and found online a 'hidden' screen that lets you do full resets and rebuilds (think it's like a defrag).

press services then 4,0,1,select. Don't worry that you don't see the options change on screen.

Again sorry it's probably not applicable to either of your issues, but it sorted my odd recording problem...

Yeah, tried that to no avail - cheers anyway, though! ;)

Have you given it a good bashing against a hard surface like the floor or a table?

Percussive maintenance, as it's known in the trade... ;)

This was happening at my sports club, we'd get some channels but not the ones we actually wanted! In the end I found it was an issue with the viewing card (this was around the time Sky were sending out the new ones). I suggest you phone Sky.

Be careful going through the "secret menu" which is secret because it's for engineers to use. It's fine to use it if you know what you're doing.

As for the problems - I'd have tried what's been suggested already which clearly hasn't worked.

Next step - get over to AV forums (Google it) and you'll find an answer. Some very knowledgable people over there.

We had exactly this with our box a few weeks back - It was a HD box, spoke to sky and done the usual, booked an engineer (refused to pay, so got it free as a 'gesture of goodwill') engineer checks satellite cables and then says "it's the tuner in the box, they are all going like this" - replaces the box with the new HD one (smaller case, but bigger HDD) 20 minutes later all sorted :D
