Guest
I'm having a bit of a rethink about my current stable of gadgets (!) and am Thinking of getting a basic Blackberry - phone and email. I know nothing about them - which one do I need? Yes I'm probably going to sell the iPhone 4. It's lovely, but I'm bored of it. Going to try the iPad again...! Andrew_R 0
It depends on what kind of contract your on and with who. Did you know that if your on Orange or T-Mobile that they have merged and now have more masts, from yesterday you can get coverage using both networks. Since I have gone on my career break I have started working for Orange in the contact centre, so if you want some more advice then PM me and I can recommend some models for you. Paradox + 666
Now I'm an iPhone man myself, but if I were to go for a Blackberry I have to say that I've always quite liked the look of the Bold (9700). Blackberry Bold (9700) Review - Cnet And if you're ever after decent reviews of any gadgets (either current or upcoming) I'd recommend Cnet as a decent source.
Guest
Should have mentioned - I'm with O2 at the moment but only on a 30-day rolling contract, so can go with pretty much any provider.
Administrative Account 7
I have a Bold 9000 on Orange and I couldn't recommend it enough, except, it has now been replaced with the Bold 9700 so if I was just starting out I would go for that. It has only just come out here but the Torch should be available soon on Orange and I will be looking to upgrade to this in the new year.
Guest
I'm also on the Bold 9000. I love my Blackberry but the only complaint is the trackball (as over time its performance decreases as dust etc gathers underneath). The newer models have a track pad which I haven't used but I would expect is a lot better. From a users perspective the blackberry takes a bit of getting used to when you get one for the first time, but I personally am the type of person who likes to play around with new phones to discover all the features. I find phones that are really straightforward (even if with lots of features) to be rather boring.
Administrative Account 7
I have tried a trackpad and if you are moving from a trackball to the pad it takes a little getting used to but after 10 minutes of playing it's fine. Don't think they'll be putting the trackball on any more devices sticking instead with the pad.
Damsel + 2,111
Andy, what is it with you and fruit based gadgets That's handy to know about Orange & T-Mobile, as we could never get a good T-Mobile signal in the house, but Orange was fine. Might have to look again at them when renewal time comes around. As we now have an 'Orange staffer' as a member, does this mean that we can all get the staff discount if we get our phones through you?

I read that as 'Orange stuffer'. I think I've been looking for too many out of context comments recently.
Damsel + 2,111
I read that as 'Orange stuffer'. Oddly, that's not too far off what I told Orange to do last time I had a contract with them
Chris-841 0
Ive got the 8900 Curve on 02 and thats quite good i like it but signal can be abit rubbish but i may change to orange cause they have now joined up with vodafone so if you havent got an orange signal you can use the vodafone network and it wont cost more. It just annoys when you pay for a phone each month and then you get rubbish signal If you get a blackberry make sure you get a good case, case mines abit scuffed on the back now from my keys but other than that its a great phone Edited October 6, 2010 by Chris-
Paradox + 666
It just annoys when you pay for a phone each month and then you get rubbish signal Usually there is something written into the terms and conditions of your contract to say that if they are essentially not able to offer you the service that you are paying for then that is enough grounds for you to terminate your contract without further charge. Worth looking into if you're trying to get out of one. But this is off topic. Sorry, that's not like me at all.
