Hello, I am just curious as to how and where National Highways Traffic Officers and Welsh Government Traffic Officers get the right to use amber flashing lights, rear reds, and electronic airhorns. I was thinking maybe it might be an amendment to Road Vehicle Lighting Regulations 1989, as far as amber lights and rear reds are concerned; but I can't find such amendments to amber flashing lights and rear reds, anywhere in RVLR 1989. Do you guys know anything about that, and where to look?

Do we have any serving National Highways Traffic Officers still using the forum? If so I am after some informationif you are able to assist. What sort of training do you folks receive in relation to deplying cones intothe carriageway at an incident as per Chapter 8 signs etc. and additionally the rolling road block scenario. Is this something which is taight to you on the job or is there some form of classroom theory and then practical during your initial training to become a traffic officer Thanks folks

Anyone currently working at ERCC or out of there as a Hato able to shed any light on when recruitment is likely? Call me sad but I've always fancied working for the highways agency & would be quite happy spending hours on the road and in the control room if that's where you have to start now. Rumour has it that the salary is not as good as that working for a home office force though which I currently do... Any answers appreciated
