Latest news Motorcyclist named as police launch fresh appeal into fatal collision 10/06/2017 Traffic police have launched a fresh appeal for witnesses to a fatal crash in Solihull - as the victim was today named as Steven McCarthy. The 48-year-old motorcyclist from Birmingham suffered fatal head injuries after falling from his bike and hitting the central reservation on the A45 Coventry Road on 21 May. Following a pursuit through Knowle, Solihull and a small stretch of the M42 the men abandoned their white Renault Clio in the car park of Silhillian Sports Club, Knowle, before running inside. Latest news One punch Coventry killer is jailed for manslaughter 09/06/2017 A man who killed a former teacher with a single punch at a Coventry snooker club has today (Friday 9 June) been jailed for 4 ½ years. Carl Pinder hurled verbal abuse at 68 year-old Patrick Redmond before flooring him with the one blow on 27 February this year. Mr Redmond was left with a fractured skull which proved fatal after the attack at Riley’s Snooker Hall in Hertford Place. Latest news Two Wolverhampton women charged with fraud 09/06/2017 Two women have been charged in connection with a fraud investigation. Former City of Wolverhampton Council employee Karen Corr, aged 54 from Sandy Lane, Bushbury and former Wolverhampton Homes employee Joanne Lewis, aged 50 from Victoria Road, Wednesfield, have been charged with conspiracy to commit fraud by abuse of position. Latest news Arrest made after taxi controller murder 09/06/2017 A teenager has been arrested in connection with the murder of a taxi controller who died days after being assaulted in Nechells. The 17-year-old lad was arrested yesterday (Thursday 8 June) on suspicion of murder and has been released from custody pending further investigation. Officers were called to Embassy Taxis on Oliver Street on the evening of Friday 26 May following reports that a man had been assaulted and knocked unconscious. Jack Griffin, aged 19 of The Beck, Netherton, Abbey Hughes, aged 19 of Harcourt Road, Cradley Heath, and Clayton Pritchard, aged 18 of Petford Street, Cradley Heath, were charged with theft. Latest news Pilot project launched to support children living with domestic abuse 08/06/2017 A pilot scheme aimed at supporting children living with domestic abuse has been launched by West Midlands Police and schools across Dudley. The project – part of a national campaign entitled Operation Encompass – sees quick-time reporting channels created that enable officers to relay details of overnight incidents to teachers before school gates open the next morning. Latest news Graveyard search for Natalie Putt concludes 07/06/2017 Detectives investigating the disappearance of Gornal teen Natalie Putt have completed their searches of a graveyard near to where she was last seen nearly 14 years ago. Four sarcophagus type graves were examined without the need for any human remains to be exhumed, however nothing was found. A wider search of the whole graveyard also revealed nothing of interest. The graves have now been resealed and restored to their original condition. Latest news Brave Dudley officer is recovering after stabbing 07/06/2017 A Dudley officer is recovering at home after being stabbed in the leg after responding to an incident at Asda in Dudley last night (Tuesday). Police were called to Asda in the High Street at 8.20pm to reports of a woman with a knife. Officers arrived at the incident and while the 19-year-old woman was being detained, one police officer received a stab wound to the leg. Latest news Man admits killing two-year-old boy 07/06/2017 A Wolverhampton man has admitted brutally beating to death his partner’s two-year-old son. Little Jeremiah Regis-Ngawah died from peritonitis after suffering a traumatic blow to his stomach inflicted by Chevase Sanchez McGregor (below). The toddler’s mother, Sindyann Laverne Regis, aged 26, (below) had already pleaded to allowing the death of her son at an earlier hearing. Officers carried out two early morning raids in Bedlam Wood Road and Farren Road, Northfield, during a pre-planned operation. Latest news Two arrested in Walsall for possession of firearms 06/06/2017 Two men have been arrested after a car was stopped on Little Aston Road in Walsall earlier today (6 June). Police stopped the car at around 1.20pm as part of an intelligence-led operation. Two men in their 40s were arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms and a number of firearms were recovered.
