Folks

I know some of you used tapatalk quite a lot prior to the upgrade and are wanting it back asap. We want it back for all of you too and with this in mind I have decided to install the BETA release of the tapatalk plugin. Tapatalk will again work on this site but please be mindful certain aspects will be broken, it is a beta and not final release. Any bugs with tapatalk are not a fault on our side, they are purely an issue with the plugin. As tapatalk release updates to the beta to correct bugs we will update the forum so we are more often than not running on the very latest release.

Please feel free to give me a nudge in this blog if they release an update that you think I might have missed.

SO .... The bottom line .... it is installed, some of it works, some of it doesn't but I felt you would rather have something than nothing. If you do find issues please report them to tapatalk directly here https://support.tapatalk.com/threads/tapatalk-for-ips4-beta-feedback.30366/ - the more reports they get of issues the quicker it will get resolved so please do give them your feedback.

Don't forget that the fully responsive design of the latest forum software will mean that you are able to revert to your mobile browser at any time and use the site in its full glory.

Best Wishes

Chief Bakes

This update made the forum inaccessible to me for almost a month and even now the experience of being here is pretty rubbish as a Tapatalk user.

My question is why didn't you wait until Tapatalk caught up with IPB before updating?

Hi - tapatalk is an additional resource that is available to our forum users but is not seen as a primary addition. Clearly there were significant benefits in terms of managing the forum that came with version 4 for us here.

I accept that we could have waited but tapatalk did make indications that the update wasn't far away. I certainly didn't expect them to take this long. Either way the site now has a fully responsive theme that will work in a standard browser and that is the preferred method of accessing the site.

In addition tapatalk has always been and will always be limited in terms of its capability as it only ever supports the forum aspect of the site which is far from ideal.

I've made Tapatalk quite aware of my frustration, don't worry! I'll give the site a go in Safari to see how I get on although I do prefer the convenience of Tapatalk.

Thanks for the response.

I have asked Tapatalk about access to blogs (they said they'll pass it on for consideration)

I've also reported an issue with images not displaying in tapatalk - the html seems to get mangled and a smiley appears.

There is also an issue where, if you post something in tapatalk, it removes all the line breaks - so you get a very very long paragraph. Not sure if that is a tapatalk issue, or a config issue on PCF?

If your posting via tapatalk and the issue with line breaks occurs then the issue is with tapatalk - not here. If you are posting here and it's not right then the issue would be here.

ok, ta.

I didn't know if it was something to do with HTML/BBCODE etc being turned off here. I'll report it on tapatalk's bug thread.

HTML BB Code is not technically turned off. We are just using a much more intelligent editor that does not require things to necessarily be placed in BB code as it used to. Parsing now happens on the fly. HTML is deliberately blocked in the editor for security reasons other than to some staff.

Ive had a response from Tapatalk.  Have you updated the Tapatalk plugin recently? Apparently the paragraph issue has been fixed in the latest update (0.1.4)

Just tried a test post -  issue with spacing still remains. I'll go back to Tapatalk with the URL.

A new version of the Tapatalk beta has been released tonight, if you're not already aware.
