Family Breakdown

Recommended Posts

If someone is being harassed by any family member and nothing can be resolved and he/she requires a place to stay temporarily do the police arrange this? If so with who? Does the police officer take he/she to the new accommodation after the police station?

It's nothing to do with the Police.

Reasonable Man

In my English force If it's non violent harassment and the victim is not vulnerable then it's up to them to sort themselves out. If a vulnerable victim is subjected to domestic violence then the police will point them in the direction of victim support services who would give appropriate support.

Maybe Polis Scotland is a less victim supporting service?

Not too sure of the circumstances, but then could they not consider a Non-Harassment Order or S39 Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010? I assume that these people reside in the same property?

Otherwise not just move out?...

I know, but I suppose it depends on the context of harassment etc, wasn't really elaborated on.

Clumper

If the harassee beats the crap out of the family member concerned, preferably breaking a few major bones then it is highly likely that the police will find some accommodation for the harassee, and indeed take them there.

the person has mental health issues and has been diagnosed as that. Also, what if the wife or brothers or sister of the man call the police and file a missing person report to find him. He has already told the police gave his name and date of birth that he has a breakdown in the family and is leaving. Can the family do anything further to get him/her back home. Free will isn't it.

Unless the individual lacks capacity then he can go as he pleases, obviously very distressing for the rest of the family however nothing can be done to stop him leaving. If the individual is harassing family members then recording / reporting each incident may lead to some action however if the individual is leaving the harassment should/would diminish wouldn't it?

Sectioned Detection

Even if they lacked capacity police can only intervene if the person needs urgent medical treatment. If reported missing once found and seen safe and well the family will be told they're safe and nothing more.
