If "A" was to provoke "B" to assault "A" via verbal abuse (arguing), will "B" still be prosecuted for assaulting "A"? (Scots Law)

I'm trying to get to grips with the law on assault. Through internet research assault has many different meanings. One of the one's that contradict on the internet is provocative behaviour that leads to assault. So, if anyone could answer using the previous example then it could help me understand the law on assault through provocative behaviour (verbal abuse, arguing) a bit more clearly.

Thanks.

Through internet research assault has many different meanings.

But you should only refer to the Scots Law definition surely.

A lot of websites I came across were claiming to hold the Scots Law definition, they were all saying different things near enough.

From memory it is an attack on the person of another whether or not actual injury is inflicted or not.
