Soap + 1,575
Don't pull guns on cops... SGT Green's footage, the other officer on scene. VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED. Edited July 2, 2015 by Soap
Global Moderators MindTheGap 1,275 Posted July 2, 2015 Global Moderators Share Posted July 2, 2015 Maybe a warning would be appropriate for our younger readers? I know it's very 'think of the children' but this footage does show someone's life ending in a violent fashion. On to the content, can't fault their actions and the footage justifies the shots (on the American system of reasonable force)

He moved the silverware away from the suspect as they passed it. Then as soon as there was the threat of gun, he drew and got accurate shots at the suspect in record speed.
TangoJunior 11
Impressive reactions from the officers. Can't imagine the carnage if this was to happen on our streets. *Hold on one minute before you shoot me sir whilst i try and wack you with my stick*
MerseyLLB 8,426
It would be justified over here as well.
rosco + 651
Quite surprised to see the female officer pull out her taser first (having identifed the suspect's gun) and then have to switch to firearm : her shots ended up being superfluous in the end I think. It looks to me like the female officer stops shooting once the suspect drops the weapon.
Eddzz!! + 149
Yeah, graphic content warning in the title would be appropriate in this instance.
jamieMET + 121
9-11 shots fires by GREEN and then a further 2 by GRIFFIN seems a little OTT to me tbh. I'm glad that the officers and other MOPs we're uninjured here, but the distinct lack of aftercare after the shooting in almost all police footage is pretty horrendous too. I couldn't ever see that being acceptable here From my arm chair of course...

I suspect, given the fact the suspect actually aimed the gun at the officers, the heart rate was a little raised. Apparently, According to reddit, the handgun was just a BB Gun and the male had recently moved to the area following a messy divorce. A suicide by cop scenario has been theorised. Shows how the systems to help these kind of people are lacking over there... Makes me more thankful for our NHS.

Do you mean the mental health services that are being threatened with cuts? I'm not sure if cameron has delivered on his new budget commitments for them yet! Yes of course, but (with how we do it in the UK) I cant ever see such action of 13 rounds at close range, to 'stop the threat' going down well at all. I couldn't ever see that being acceptable here Sean Savage was shot up to eighteen times in Gibraltar in 1988, which was deemed lawful. The Troubles are littered with similar examples, this fixation with the number of shots fired is a recent phenomenon which makes very little sense, isn't within the scope of the vast majority of peoples' reaction times and doesn't take into account the huge punishment the human body can be capable of enduring for short periods. Out of interest how many times did you have to watch the video to count the number of shots fired, and after how many rounds would you have stopped?
