Hi if I resigned from the police prior to my pension age at what point would I be able to claim my pension, at the 50 yrs old and over 25 yrs service albeit with a much reduced lump sum or when I would have completed 30 yrs in total. My whole pension would be in the 1987 scheme and 30 yrs would be up before 2015 scheme starts. Anyone any ideas thanks.

According to my police pensions booklet if you resign with at least 2 years service your pension will be deferred until 60 unless you become permanently disabled.

If you have completed 25 years service but under the age of 50 you will be entitled once you reach the age of 50. If your over 50 with 25 years you can retire rather than resign.

If you can get 30 years in by 2015 I would after all its only just under 3 years and would be worth many tens of thousands more!

Hi Sapper

Forgive me for being nosey or getting the wrong end of the stick, but you posted in August last year stating that you 50 with 7 months to go until you complete 30 years. http://www.policeoracle.com/forum/index.php?/topic/15553-commutation/

By my reckoning, 13 months later, you should now have done your 30 and therefore fully entitled to a maximum immediate pension?

Hi I obviously didn't write it too well but was explaining what stage I would be at in the future. I am 50 Oct 2013 but don't get my full 30 till the June 2014.
