Hello, 1. Was just wondering do you have to pay into the police pension scheme or could you decide to just go private or not pay anything at all? 2. Would private be better considering the changes that have been made to the pensions? 3. On this site http://www.policebenefits.co.uk/pension_scheme/ it says that if you were to serve for 35 years with a pensionable pay of £30k you would receive a £60k lump sum plus £15k for life. Does this seem accurate and how bad does it compare with the previous scheme? Would really appreciate some answers. Thank you for your time

I am one of the 1000's of officers to be affected by the pension proposals. I had 20 years service before 1 April but will not be 40 until next year. I am trying to figure out what to do as I am certain I cannot do an extra 11.5 years service. Does anyone know whether officers like me could still go at 25 years on reduced pension? I have no intention of paying into any new pension scheme as I will not be in the job at 60 years of age. I would be interested to know if officers will be able to take their pensions under the PPS after 25 or 30 yrs service?

Morning I am a serving police officer with just over 16 year service and aged 34 years old. About 4 years ago I had a serious injury at work whilst arresting a suspect. Without boring everyone too much I have had in excess of 8 operations on the injured limb.... The FMO has stated that maybe I should be considered for retirement due to the severity of the injury, I have had the figures worked out by my federation, and though I wont exactly be well off it should be enough to at least consider leaving. Seeking information relating to pensions after transfer. I am currently serving with the Ministry of Defence Police and I am applying for transfer to a Scottish Police Force. Does anyone know if it benificial to transfer my civil service pension into the police pension. I have approx 19 years CSP (with military pension added).

Hello! I 'retired' last summer at the rank of inspector after 30 years in the Met and spent some time researching opportunities for employment after the job. I was wondering if anyone has had - or is anticipating - the retirement experience. I spent time sending CV's here, there and everywhere but ... could it be age? I have been granted a Judicial Review into the PMABS refusal to grant early release of my Police Pension. The board themselves are not allowed to defend the decision and I am waiting to see if Hants will try to defend it for them. I will be amongst other things asking the Judicial review to declare that the defining word in Early Release of Police Pension due to Permant Disability should be Early and not Permant as has been the case previously. That the word early only applies upto and including 23July 2014 the date prior to the day my Pension is due. That on the day it is due the word early no longer applies so that the word permant then becomes irrelevant because even …
