The National Crime Agency has issued a wanted appeal after a man charged with firearms offences failed to appear at court. Clinton Blakey, 35, of Dunstarn Drive, Leeds, was due to appear at Leeds Magistrates’ court today [29 Oct] after being charged with offences relating to the supply of firearms in the Yorkshire and Merseyside areas. Blakey is also wanted for breaching prison licence conditions and a warrant has been issued for his recall to prison. The NCA is appealing for information to help trace him. A 52 year old man from Hertfordshire was arrested this morning in connection with potential offences against the Bounce Back Loan scheme and other frauds. He was arrested at his home address in Hoddesdon and a search of his premises and a lockup recovered £17,000 in cash and a number of high value watches. NCA Branch Commander Simon Gower commented: “This arrest is the first by the NCA in relation to potential fraud against the Government’s Bounce Back Loan scheme. The man arrested is suspected of falsely applying for the loan and allegedly using the money on personal items.” Any fraudulent applications against the scheme may be criminally prosecuted for which penaltie…

A woman who has been ordered to hand over more than £80,000 in a National Crime Agency investigation claimed £25,000 of it was found under her grandmother’s bed. Chinese national Yuting Zhang, 36, claimed the £25,000 – paid into her bank account in old £50 notes – had actually come to her legitimately from under her grandmother’s bed in China. She could not explain how the money got there originally. Zhang, of Charminster Road, Bournemouth, had a total of £80,000 in two bank accounts which the NCA believed was laundered money.
