A brand new BBC3 documentary series is looking for serving and retired police officers to tell us about the funniest and strangest things that have happened to them during their career. We’d like to hear about: • The daftest or most incompetent criminals you’ve ever encountered. • The funniest thing that ever happened to you during your time on the force. If you are interested in taking part, please contact us so that we can tell you a bit more about the show. We’d also love to hear your stories. Our programme will provide an insight into best practices, celebrate the achievements of the police and convey a strong central message: Crime doesn’t pay and …

I was recently made aware during a disscussion with some friends that in Afghanistan the price for a kilogram of pure Heroin can be as little as 50 dollars US , that when this 50 dollar kilo hits the streets it can fetch as much as 500,000 pounds sterling , it's just a thought , but wouldn't it be hugely cost effective for the british government to buy the whole Afghan crop and then burn it or legalise it and let the junkies have it on prescription so they leave members of the public safe with all our treasured belongings intact . Surely this would be a sesible thing to do , it would also free up a huge ammount of police resorces inorder to focus on more important matters…

When I applied to Cleveland Police, having known other people join various constabularies, I expected it to take 18 months of my life, should it be shorter than that - fantastic! However, my will power has the better of my rational brain!!! The letter I received before xmas, which stated the above, also said that to not contact the office in this busy time unless you wish not to proceed with your application. SO!!!! Has anyone else received their welcome pack, due mid January?

Hello All. Just wondering if anybody has any ideas when ClePol will be opening recruitment, or if anybody has an information on this. Are they signing into the 2 year freeze? or will there be a 2010 Drive... Im dying to get into the Police, and have been trying now for a while. And Cleveland is where i would go by choice, as its my area. If i had to choose another force to go for i would have to say Humberside or the Met. Thanks.

From what i hear, it seems to be going pear shaped - big time. The front desk still needs to be covered by police officers They are now sub-contracting positions back to Reliance Desperate for money, they are knocking back files for the slightest little thing and then imposing fines to the shifts. No new computer system yet as they promised Have they bitten off more than they can chew. And, i think if they are imposing fines to us, we should refuse to help them out on the front desk

Just wondering how other districts are finding the use of Duty Sheet? We are struggling to get some officers onto it in M dist due to the lack of internet connection at the station, I have sent out the user guide so hopefully people can get on it from home and give it a try!
