Turns out I was right, did make an appearance towards the end of episode 2.... for all of about 2 seconds :D

In the first sequence, Is there any reason a caltrop-type device wasn't put behind the tire so than when the stolen vehicle finally moved, there wasn't a pursuit (or at least not a high-speed one)?

Our traffic folks have them, so maybe it's just specialised units that have them?

Shame : you could just imagine how useful they might be on an ASB hotspot for example!

They'd be epic for our nuisance motorcyclists!

Cool looking little thing. Not aware of anything like that here though.

We use 'Rat Traps' in my force - they're made by Stinger.  ARVs and Traffic have them, and I bought a load when I was on our Proactive Team (they weren't restricted to any particular department, it just needed teams to actually buy them out their own budgets and to be stinger trained), which I assume are still floating around in the units that subsequently formed. Def worth looking in to, they're not particularly expensive and it's always better to prevent the pursuit in the first place, right!?

By the way, if you ever use one on a stolen motor but eventually end up just getting the vehicle recovered make sure you remove it before the recovery driver sticks the car on the truck..... 'Apparently' it's quite embarrassing, and costly for cakes if you forget...
