Hi all,

I am currently finalising my dissertation for my masters and would be grateful for some help if possible. Please see the below. If you would like to help I would be grateful if you would click on the link below and complete the questionnaire.

The purpose of the study is to identify whether a mandatory arrest policy, as present in many States within America, works in reducing domestic violence incidents and if so whether it could work in England and Wales. The study is being conducted purely for an educational purpose and as part of the researchers MSc final dissertation in Criminology and Criminal Psychology.

Thank you all in advance.

Kind Regards

Laura

Invitation

Thank you for reading this. I am an MSc Criminology and Criminal Psychology student at the University of Portsmouth undertaking a dissertation as part of my course. I would like to invite your police officers to take part in my research study by completing this questionnaire. It is entirely up to you whether your force participates but your responses would be valued.

The study will look to examine the arrest policies in place following a domestic violence incident to determine if a mandatory arrest policy, similar to that in some States in America could work over here in England and Wales.

I will neither need the name nor any identifying details of your employees; the questionnaire can be completed anonymously and all reasonable steps will be taken to ensure confidentiality. The fact that responses may be obtained from your organisation will remain confidential and will not feature within the analysis of the results.

Responses from completed questionnaires will be collated for analysis; once this is complete the original questionnaires will be stored until December 2016, thereafter they will be destroyed. Up to this stage, printed and completed questionnaires will be stored within a locked filing cabinet. If you wish to learn more about the results of the research please feel free to email or contact on the above contact details.

If you wish to allow your police officers to participate within this research then I would be very grateful if you could forward the below link (this links to the questionnaire) along with the attached participant information form to all of your police officer colleagues from the rank of police constable upwards where applicable.

In order to participate, you may either:

1. Click on this link or 2. Copy-paste the entire following link between quote marks (NOT including the quote marks) in a web browser
" http://survey.sogosurvey.com/k/SsVQQQTsQsPsPsP "

II would also be very grateful if you are willing to allow your officers to participate, if you could respond to this email and confirm in writing for my records. Your written consent will, as stated, remain confidential and anonymous.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Yours Faithfully,

Laura Parsons
