Lee 10
Has anyone else watched the first episode of The Detectives? What did you think of it? For those who haven't it is a 3 part series that follows the Serious Sexual Offences Unit of GMP I might be a little biased but I thought it was a really good programme and I have noticed a lot of positive support for it. Cameron 27
Yeah it was quite interesting, but I found 24 Hours In Police Custody more interesting to watch and a bit more light-hearted.
Milankovitch + 3,445
I don't think a programme about serious sexual offences was ever going to be light hearted...
KopiteDW 30
Saw it and thought it was a well done documentary. Credit to them detectives, I couldn't deal with those types of offences day in day out.
E29NP 1,458
Very interesting and well made. Was it just me or did anyone else notice that when Ray Teret was on camera, he always had his teeth latched to something!
TheFlomeister + 349
Very interesting and well made. Was it just me or did anyone else notice that when Ray Teret was on camera, he always had his teeth latched to something! I noticed that too, although I don't think he was consciously doing it when he knew there was a camera. I don't think he would have known the camera was there in some of the footage they had of him yet he had that bit of paper in his mouth. As someone who has never interviewed, I found the explanation of the different phases and then hearing it put into practice interesting and helpful. ForceHQ 117
I concur, it was quite good and informative as it's not something you get to see even in the job. Although I still don't know what a 'teir 5' is. I assume it's a type of interview level. Also did TAU have a tazer sheild, when they went on the arrest atempt? (From ep 2) Edit: I've even taken a screenshot for you all. Edited May 19, 2015 by ForceHQ
andi + 1,262
Tier replaced the old PIP levels. Tier 5 is a very good interviewer. The shield is electrified, and is used for dogs.

Thanks, I'm assuming it's the highest level? Can dogs read the warning label :p, hypotheticaly would it work on a person?
andi + 1,262
I'm not sure, but if it's not the highest, it's up there. It's electrified so at the end of the day, I guess it probably would have an effect. Not sure what sort of voltage/current it carries though. ParochialYokal 1,119
One thing that I didn't quiet understand is the career path that some of them took. There was talk in the first programme that they were 'directly recruited'. Does that mean they went straight in the role from uniform and received specialist training, so that they had the appropriate mindset and skills? Or are any of them 'Investigating Officers' (i.e. Police Staff)?
ScotLass + 638
This is some seriously tough watching. I'm only on episode one.
Charlie 606
Thanks, I'm assuming it's the highest level? Tier 5 is indeed the highest level of investigative training. I think some might've been the latter. I believe G4S even has some Tier 5 interview trained staff (ex-police) to train, supervise and co-ordinate people in some forces.
