I suspect a lot of you have seen it, but it's the first time I've seen it so I thought I'd share:

This video shows how the taser whilst a very useful tool should not be relied upon.

First taser failed, exposing the deploying officer to extreme danger, when his taser fails to disable the knifeman he is rushed by the suspect.

Thankfully the back up taser did work...

Did the taser fail because he missed or did the bloke just not go down when hit with the juice?

it could be a number of reasons - total miss, only one probe actually connecting with the skin, not a decent enough probe spread, hit an area with low nerve/muscle mass, etc, etc

the video goes quite fast however the officer appears to be quite close.

Therefore, being an arm chair critic I'm going to go with probe spread

Some idiot who found their way onto the This Morning couch said the use of taser was unreasonable but Philip Schofield quickly put them right!

Tasers are quite limited in their use and i try not to treat them as reliable at all.

They definitely have a place but trying to deploy them in kinetic situations is hard

It's not the magic panacea / death babnans the press seem to think.

I'm.still happy to have one though.

Lucky he wasn't shot when charged the officer with the Taser. Though given the circs you'd have to be 100% sure you wouldn't miss (probably best to have left the '36 in the car...).

Another example of restraint and professionalism, that could have gone very wrong very quickly.

Hopefully the chap can get the help he clearly needs.

Philip was almost lost for words. When pressed she was unable to back up her ridiculous comment. What a silly woman.

I suspect she is anti anything the police do, and her default reaction was to criticise without thinking.

Here is the stupid woman right here.

Next time, really, we should ask her to step in and show us how it's done.

"Um, pepper spray"

*screws face up into maximum smug mode*

I'm sure she would be the first to whine if someone weighed in and started to tell her how to her job when they didn't know the first thing about it...

I love Philip Schofield.  What a guy.

Poor woman appears to have a case of engaging mouth before brain...

Here's some Germans(?) who really could have done with a Taser:

Or back up, or better technique, or their batons, or all 4 officers actually pulling their weight and not getting stuck at tac comms when it's all kicked off.

Some background info suggests the civilians were acquitted on viewing of this dashcam (all the footage) as the force escalation was all from the officers and not the suspects and an internal investigation is underway.
