Police ask Steve McGawley to take down his Christmas lights

Recommended Posts

A quick search of Google reveals that he has a bit of previous for offensive decorations. There's always one who wants to push things.

The two images are supplied by different agencies, one agency may have censored the image prior to distributing it (some do, some don't). It likely isn't the Metro censoring it.

'YOUR PENIS IS STILL OFFENSIVE'. A phrase that no man ever wishes to hear.

I've seen the rest, McGawley gets arrested. I think that was DEFINITELY over the top!

It was entirely their choice to look at his house in the first place. Also I don't recall the officer having taken a complaint from a member of the public, feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

There were complaints, also regardless of what you think it is still a public order issue. I'm personally not offended by swearing, but that doesn't mean I'm going to allow someone to stand outside the local Sainsbury screaming swear words at the top of their voice.

Arrest is frequently not necessary, but the person involved makes it necessary.

An arrest for littering is over the top, but if the person tells you to get stuffed and won't give you details, then they have forced you to arrest them.

I would happily never arrest anyone. But people don't give me that choice.
