Rocket + 6,403
So, anyone else as excited as me about the new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus? I'm not a real Apple fanboy that buys the 'latest' variation every year, my current iPhone is a 4 and it's now 5 years old. It still works fine, battery life is not what it used to be but I can't upgrade it to iOS 8 so I can't use the forum app amongst many other apps that now require at least iOS 8 and I'm worried about security with it too without the lastest iOS updates. So I'm going the get the 7 Plus with 128GB storage. Lots fuss about the removal of the analogue 3.5mm stereo headphone jack? What do you think? Management Chief Cheetah 6,915 Posted September 9, 2016 Management Share Posted September 9, 2016 What do I think? I think there are many many better products on the market. I also think £159 is a lot of money for headphones that you need to recharge to be able to use. I think Tim Cook's use of the word courage was quite disrespectful and misplaced.
Rocket + 6,403
A lot of people have been mentioning the headphones, but the 7 and 7 plus come with headphones in the box just as my 4 did. The only difference is the connector they have as they now use the lightning connector instead of the 3.5mm jack port. The 7 and 7 Plus also come with a Lightning to 3.5mm adaptor lead in the box if you have old skool headphones that you still want to use. The only issue I can see is if you for some reason that I've never come across in all the time that I've had a mobile phone is if you want to listen to music via headphones and charge the phone at the same time. sparkydale 1,194
I'm not convinced yet. I'm on the S cycle for upgrades with my contract so not really looking at getting a 7. There does seem to be a few things lacking so far though eg Wireless charging - like on the Apple Watch so then you don't have the lightening socket restricted? And the design hasn't really changed either. I think that next year with the 10 year anniversary you could get an iPhone X which could be the definitive iPhone. Webley + 236
If apple don't bring back the headphone jack then my current 5s will be my last iphone. I have expensive headphones with 3.5mm jack. I use an aux 3.5mm jack in the car. I can plug my phone in at work via 3.5mm jack. I also get involved with doing live sound for events which use 3.5mm jack to connect.A dongle for plugging them in is just another thing to loose, carry or break. The latter being very likely for apple standards on cables. Also, do I have to buy another adapter just to charge it while using a 3.5mm jack?At the moment I'm on the hunt for a new phone. One with a screen no bigger than 4in. Sadly the smartphone market severly lacks real compact options.Sent from my iPhone using Police Community
Admin Team Sir Penguin 648 Posted September 10, 2016 Admin Team Share Posted September 10, 2016 I'm probably going to get the 7 plus too. I think I'll wait a month or so though because the prices at the moment are ridiculous.
2wheelsgood + 21
Prices unlikely to drop though, Apple don't tend to drop prices once set for market reasons but may do once the the currency movements allow for it.

I mean the tariffs for the contract. I'm not in any position to be forking out £900 for a phone at once
2wheelsgood + 21
I know what you mean, but the contract tariff will probably not drop until iPhone 8 / 7* / next odd name comes out.
