How many times?

Hi all,

I'm just asking the following out of interest.

1, how many attempts did it take for you to pass the assessment centre and go through to the next stage in the recruitment process? (Final interview etc)

2, how old were you when you joined?

I applied twice. First time I didn't pass the paper sift, second I failed at final interview, but a few months later got invited to another final interview, which I passed.

I was 28 when I started.

This is my second attempt and I'm in the 25-32 ballpark :P I had previously got right through to medical which is the final stage for my force.

There seems to be a patten of either first time or like 5th :P, just to hijack the thread out of curiosity, those who passed 1st time did you put in a lot of revision towards memorizing your answers?

I passed my first assessment centre back in 2009 when I was 24, that recruitment drive was cancelled though. I recently (this year) passed my second assessment centre and will be 31 when I join next month.

EIther once or twice depending on how you look at it... Missed AC score req by 1% but transferred it straight away to another Force and got accepted, passed all stages seamlessly.

I passed everything three times but didn't get in until the third try for various reasons. I was also 30 when I joined up.

This sounds so similar....

I had a start date circa feb 2009 due to start in the April in the new FY and in the march received a letter saying recruitment on hold due to the cuts and two years later everything was returned saying to apply again from scratch if i wanted a job. I was gutted as some office twerp in recruitment had 'lost' my file in their office for three months and they couldn't find it and if it wasn't lost i would have been in the January. I didn't bother to apply again as when recruitment finally opened back up a couple or three years ago it wasn't the police service i joined.

I did for the regulars, an insane amount of revision and "rehearsal" of what kind of questions I'd get as well as memorising some acronyms and memorising / structuring various examples I could use for competency questions
