You'd have to wait for someone who is in Lincolnshire currently serving in that role or another to tell you that. I'm not I'm afraid and I won't comment on something I know nothing about.

Perhaps ask a moderator to move your post to the Lincolnshire or PCSO specific forum for more attention?

Out of curiosity what would you gain with a VPCSO over a normal special?

This could probably do with being in the PCSO section of the forum.

Nothing, the only thing I can think is that they're cheaper to kit out with no PPE and the training is much shorter than for being an SC which means they get more of them out on the streets faster.

I don't understand the whole concept!

More confusion from the public over specials and PCSOs than you have at the moment.

Why would anyone want to do the job of a pcso for nothing ? As an ex pcso I can tell you it's a hard job on foot in all weathers public and pc's calling you plastics they have no PPE to protect them selves although they have more powers than they had back in 2002 there's no protection if they come face to face with a group of youths PC colleagues treat them the lowest of the low no don't join as a volunteer pcso join as a special

I find this interesting, because in my force specials have 4 weeks training (collectively) and when I was a PCSO we did 12 weeks training (it's 8 weeks now), so it's not even a case of getting folk out on the streets faster in every force.

Yes but for the VPCSO role the training will be less than they give for being an SC which is what I was getting at, otherwise I'm even more confused by the whole scheme.

I personally think it is a good idea to have VPCSO's but Lincolnshire Police is the only Force that currently has them. Essex Police recently cut out Paid PCSOs from over 150 PCSOs to only 90 so I think VPCSO's would be good for any force.
