Fitness tracker smartwatch hybrid

Alrighty folks,

I am currently looking at getting a piece of wearable tech that will act as a fitness tracker but also have smartwatch capabilities, i.e. phone notifications.  The backstory is that whilst I've currently got a lovely watch that I wear daily, it's not something that will be suitable for the job when I apply full-time this year (not really suitable for rough and tumble), and I want something that will help me achieve my fitness goals.  My phone is iOS and will remain so for the foreseeable, but I don't want an Apple Watch due to cost and breakability.

My current options are the Garmin Vivosmart HR (and they've now released the Vivosmart HR+ with GPS built in) and the Microsoft Band 2 (which I've only discovered today).  The reason being that these two have HRMs in the wrist built in, GPS, and smartphone notifications, all for under £200.

I've looked at Fitbit's current options, but there's nothing that quite meets up to these two "hybrid" smartwatches/fitness trackers, for the price.

Does anyone have any other recommendations, or used either of these bands in the job?

Mazza, Before I start I have to admit I'm not the most tec savvy person on this forum, however, about three years ago I thought I would buy a omron jog style pedometer to help me get fit for the fitness test. It cost me about thirty pounds  at the time so not cheap. I got it from that firm on the net beggining with A.  It's still going strong and working perfectly.

What  you do is calibrate it to your stride/height etc, then clip it on your trouser belt and go for a walk, or if you are feeling energetic I suppose it would work if you broke into a run .When  you get back home you can see how far you have been,it tells you how much weight you have lost, (which usually is only a few grammes) and how many calories you have burned up, it says many kilometres/steps you have completed and how long you have taken to do it and all that sort of thing, it keeps a record over the days as well so plenty of info there.  The best bit about it is that when you switch it off it says  "good job". There will probably be simmilar possibly better items on the market now but hopefully they shouldn't be more than thirty or forty pounds at the most. So that's my recommendation. :).Rich.
