Management Chief Cheetah 6,915 Posted May 13, 2016 Management Share Posted May 13, 2016 So I've recently gone to fibre. It's taken BTOpenReach over a month to activate it on behalf of my service provider but that's another story. Everything is now super fast. What this has exposed is how decrepit my Tablet actually is and so I'm looking for a new one. Not looking to spend a lot as I don't do much with the tablet and no matter what it won't be an Apple product. I am considering the Lenovo Tab 2 A10 Full HD 10 Inch 16GB Tablet as seen in this link http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4123691.htm Costs about £150 and I wouldn't want to go much higher. Techie1 + 2,024
I'm not familiar with that tablet, seems to be mixed reviews for it - a few about performance, upgrade issues, WiFi issues, but mostly positive reviews. I'd be tempted to spend a little more for a bigger name brand or more powerful model, as it is a long term purchase. Have you thought about hybrid laptop/tablets like the ASUS ones?
Management Chief Cheetah 6,915 Posted May 13, 2016 Author Management Share Posted May 13, 2016 I have an ASUS Netbook and I really like ASUS products. The main PC (self built) and the netbook I use the most, just occasionally I use the tablet. My current tablet believe it or not is an HP TouchPad made around 2011. It still works and is still fine for everything I need apart from the fact the wifi is slow on it and the bluetooth doesn't connect with everything (I think it's 2.0 and most new things require 3.0 or 4.0). I used a Cyanogenmod to take it from the rubbish HP OS up to Android KitKat but that's about as far as it will go reliably. I've read a lot of reviews and all the experts are all pretty much 'meh' but then the users either love it or hate it. Those that hate it tend to be early adopters who didn't like the early upgrades of Android from 4 to 5 but now that a number of patches have been made these seem to be ironed out. Going away I take the netbook, it has more capacity and is Win10 so is much more PC like than a tablet with Android. I really am torn but at the moment I'm looking to go potentially go buy one tomorrow. It gets used for a couple of hours a week at best and most of that is the Sky App to let me change the channels in another room.
ScotLass + 638
I like my Kindle Fire HD because I mainly use it for entertainment - All4, Netflix, books, music, and I take it away on holiday and business trips with me. I know you get a bigger, more home computer-style of tablet, but I've never tried it. Sent from my iPhone using Police Community
Eddzz!! + 149
Get yourself a second-hand Nexus 7, or if you want to go newer and bigger, a Nexus 9! If you want Android you can't beat them. Second to that would be the latest Samsung Galaxy Tab. Edited May 16, 2016 by Eddzz!!
Management Chief Cheetah 6,915 Posted May 16, 2016 Author Management Share Posted May 16, 2016 Thanks for the replies folks. I suppose when I said I was loking for advice what I was really looking for was anybody who could talk me out of the Lenovo. I did in fact buy buy the Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70 on Saturday and I'm loving it. It has really exposed just how bad my old faithful tablet really was. For the price it has good specs and the look and feel is excellent. Cheers all.

Management Chief Cheetah 6,915 Posted May 16, 2016 Author Management Share Posted May 16, 2016 It is in effect the most expensive remote control I have ever bought as the main function is the Sky+ app for changing channels in a different room. I do a little surfing on it but not much.
