Protesters at Brixton Police Station

Some quite robust policing here by my local bobbies. Good on 'em. (Background is there was a protest in the area about the increasing gentrification/perceived social cleansing of the area. As usual the rent-a-mob showedup and hijacked it, with a few people "storming" Brixton police station and refusing to leave)

Bit of a silly question, but what has "storming a police station" got to do with protests about people moving into an area and pricing people out?

Oh wait, it dosn't its just something for the "proffessional protestor" to do!

From a slightly different angle. Gotta love the guy shouting "hands up don't shoot". Erm, they have batons?

Spot on.

if only we were consistent we wouldn't have half the issues we do.

Bit of a joke really, what did those protesters think they'd be able to achieve by smashing up a police station? Yeah that's certainly going to lend legitimacy to your cause.

How long do we reckon until a liberal tabloid comes along and declares "Poor innocent Johnny who was orphaned as a toddler only went out to hold a peaceful protest in a public place and the nasty horrible policemanofficers came along and pepper sprayed him for exercising his right to peaceful protest!"

Soooo.....

Obstruct police, criminal damage, S5, possibly even burglary (enters with intent to cause crim dam)

I'm sure we won't arrest anyone though, coz, y'know, reasons...

I did enjoy seeing the legal observer being calmly and safely told to go away.

These days there seem to be more people present to record a protest (or whatever that was!) that to actually protest.  The number of expensive SLR cameras being waved around in videos like this is quite surprising!

It's so that they can edit bits together from all of them to make it look like the poor innocent protestors were sood outside protesting in an orderly fashion then the nasty police came and beat them up because it's a police state and all police are some sort of "ist" depending who was currently being sprayed.

That and they start yelling about being "independent press" thinking that it means they can get away with stuff and push through Police lines.

Much like how people wearing "Legal Advisor" vests seem to think it means they can't commit any offences.

Again it's the protestors themselves reinforcing the stereotypical "waste of space with no idea of what they are actually protesting about" image.
